Marigold and the frog prince
Once upon a time in a country far away. There was a king and a queen. They had a wonderful 16 year old princess named Marigold. One day when Marigold was reading in the garden, she saw a little frog. It was sitting in grass next to the little see. When Marigold came nearer to the frog it began to talk to her. It told her that he was a prince, who a witch had turned into a frog. “Can you help me ?” asked the frog “I really would like to be a prince again.” Marigold picked the frog up and kissed it. She had been told that a kiss can turn a frog into a prince, but nothing happened. The frog jump down from her hand and looked shy at her. “Thank you for the kiss, but I’m afraid that a kiss isn’t helping here.” The frog looked sad. “There is only one way, and that is to catch the witch and make her take the spell back.” Marigold sat down beside the sad frog. “Where can I find the witch ?” she asked. The frog looked up. “ There is only one who can tell you that, and it’s the talking bird” Marigold picked up the frog and looked it right into it’s eyes. “Where can I find the talking bird ?” The frog told her a long story about the talking bird and that it only can be found in the wood with help of a magic mirror that is lying on the bottom of the see. Marigold looked in the see, the water didn’t look nice. “Are you sure that the mirror is down there ?” she asked nerves. The frog nod his head. “Can you go down and pick it up for me ?” Marigold said: “You are a frog after all and don’t mind water” The frog looked up at her and said that he couldn’t swim with the mirror. Marigold found a long rope and put it around the frogs stomach, and told that when he had found the mirror she would pull him and the mirror up of the see. The frog jumped happy in the see, found the mirror and got pulled up by Marigold as she told she would.
Marigold went into the wood behind the castle, took the mirror up in the front of her face and started looking for the talking bird. After a little wile she found it in a tree deep in the wood.
“Are you the talking bird who can tell me where I can find the witch ?” Marigold asked the bird through the mirror. “Yes, maybe.” the bird said with a funny voice. “But why do you want to find her ? She isn’t a nice person.” Marigold told the bird about the prince who had been turned into a frog by the witch and that she would like to help him. The bird looked at her. “Are you sure ?” Marigold nod her head. “Well ok, then I will help you. In the tree behind you will find a magic sword.” The bird pointed at the tree. “If you take it into your hands it will lead you right to the witch.” The bird looked her directly in the eyes. “But be sure to bring her a treasure, or else she will be very angry”
Marigold thanked the bird and went home with the magic sword. There she took a chest and put some of her jewel in it. Then she took both and went down to the little see and picked up the frog.
“Now” Marigold said to herself “I just have to follow the magic sword” She took it up in her hand and it began to turn her around and pointed in the direction of the town. She began to walk, the sword showed her the way and after an hour she came to a little house. Outside there, was an old women sitting on a bench. “It’s her !” The frog wisped from her shoulder. Marigold went right to her
“Good afternoon.” The witch looked up “What do you want ?” she asked angry. Marigold jumped a little back, but then gather all her courage and told the witch that she had come to ask her to take the spell of the prince so he no longer had to be a frog. And as thanks for that she would get the treasure that she had brought with her. The witch looked at the treasure “All right.” she said “This time I will do it, but if your prince comes again without a treasure, I will turn him into something worse”.
The prince promised that he never would forget it. Then Marigold and the prince went back to Marigolds home. They told the king and the queen about what had happened. Marigold and the prince got married and lived happy ever after.
The end
