Hey, look at that, I found a recent picture of me. There we are. That picture was taken the evening we had to endure a tornado warning this summer, and I am showing my general unconcern by pretending to be asleep. Although it might look like I'm passed out, but I promise that's not what it is.
It's nice when things turn up, you know? I recently got a call from *associate professor* Corey Shelsta, who is more or less my boss, with a bit of an outside job offer to run spotlight for a random event at a random venue in town. And, since this random event takes place during the final run of our first show (Our Town) and I am one of the few competent technicians not involved in the run of said show, the offer goes firstly to me! Yay! *wonders how well it pays* Ah, well, pay is pay, and I think I'll do it. I wonder, though, if it will get me out of strike? ... Probably not. Damn. Would be nice, though, wouldn't it? Then I could go out with a pal to help celebrate his girlfriend's birthday.
And yay, I actually left my Alpha Psi Omega meeting feeling in a good mood. (Alpha Psi Omega, by the way, is my *theatre group* that is an honorary theatre fraternity and we totally kick butt). But we do a show every year and have anywhere from 100 to 150 people try out, all majors on campus, and then we perform the show in mid to late January. The show is written, directed, and produced all by APO, and its our biggest fundraiser of the year. All it needs is a theme and some wacky go-getters to make is special.
And this year's theme is the one I was rooting for: Capers 2005: The United States of Capers! This is the one where we get to play with what would it be like if we ran the country, as improbably as it is. We set up our Emperor Capers, and make edicts and stuff, and whatever Emperor Capers says is law. I just can't wait to start writing the thing!
Ooh.. I know.. As inspiration, I will put in the DVD from Capers 2003: Capers TV: Get Turned On! That was a good year. I played a dancing lawn gnome in one of the last scenes of the thing, and in the final number.
But this is it. From here on out, my life is Capers. I will not be able to eat, sleep, or go to class without Capers somewhere on my mind. It's like Georgia, only without the peaches. Unless Emperor Capers says so. Then there will be peaches for at least a few!
