Naga, written in Sanskrit as नाग, means snake (or dragon in Indonesian). It refers to a race of supernatural beings that have both snake and human attributes. In India they are the subterranean opponents of the eagle like being Garuda (गरुड).
Naga was also a character that appears in the Marvel comic SubMariner in issue number 9. He is the ruler of the under water beings called Homo mermanus that live in the sunken city of Lemuria. When the Serpent Crown is found in the ruins Naga dons the helmet and comes under the influence of the evil serpent god Set, who was banished to a parralle dimesion because he's a naughty boy. Anyways he becomes a villian with super strength and speed!
