“Come on, sweetie, Mommy doesn’t have time for games…”
I was running…
Running through the darkness…
I could feel the shadow person flying along behind me...
There was no where to hide...
No where to flee...
So I just kept running...
"Come on, Sky, Mommy's a busy woman, and she doesn't have time to play..."
I was an eight-year-old once more; running to the end of a dark tunnel, even though this tunnel had no end...
I was scared, all I could do was run...
Run away from the shadow woman, run away from the darkness...
Run away from my family...
I looked back to see how close the shadow person was, changing back to being thirteen.
It was too dark, I couldn't see her, but I knew she was close...
I turned back around and continued running, back to being eight.
And I didn't look back again because there was a light up ahead...
The light at the end of the tunnel...
I was crying because I was scared, but I knew that the light would keep me safe...
So I ran to the light, turning back to thirteen just before I got to it.
"Hello, Sky," the light said.
I knew he would keep me safe...
I blinked my eyes open, smiling. The sun shone down on my little bed, making me feel all warm and fuzzy-like inside.
The light in my dream made me feel the same, too.
I sat up, curled my arms around my knees, and soaked up the warm sunlight.
I had to face the obstacle course today, but I was ready for it.
The sunlight made me feel as if I could do anything...
And I was.
I am gonna find John.
I am gonna join the team.
I am gonna save my mom.
And I am gonna save my future.
"Sky?" Sil said, peeking her head in.
"Yeah?"
"C'mon, it's almost time for you to get on the course."
"'Kay..."
I jumped off the cloud and walked over to Sil's dresser, getting dressed in a pair of clothes that looked like the ones I wore the other day: gray t-shirt with a number 13 on it, dark baggy jeans, black fingerless gloves, and my guitar necklace.
I walked out into the hallway where Sil was waiting for me.
"Ready to go?" She asked.
I nodded. She took my hand and flew me through the hallways and out onto the obstacle course where a lot of the Titans were waiting. She let me touch the ground first, and I let go, then she landed softly beside me. "By the way, Robin knows about you being from the future, and he promised not to tell anyone," she whispered. I nodded again.
“Okay, Sky, ready for the course?” Robin (at least, that’s who I’m guessing he is) said, sitting down at the control panel.
“Give me your best shot!” I said, smiling big.
He started up the course and I took my place at the starting line, transforming my necklace into a guitar as I went.
“Good luck,” Robin said. I took a deep breath, turned the dial on my guitar, and looked straight ahead, both of my ears standing up (for once).
As soon as the course started, I made two energy disks and hopped on them, zooming on to the course. Using mainly my guitar, I made excellent time on the course. Halfway through, I transformed my guitar back into a necklace and used my other power---just so the other Titans could see what I can do. By the end of my run, the Titans needed a new course.
And guess what my time was?
1:45.
Everyone stared at me, stunned at what I could do.
“What?” I asked, looking around. “Haven’t you ever seen someone with a disintegrating power before?”
Silence.
“I’m guessing not…” I muttered, walking back up to the control panel. “So am I on the team or not?” I asked.
“Uh…Yeah…” Robin said, handing me a small yellow and black disk. “Welcome to the team.”
I smiled.
I was one step closer to finding John and saving my mom.
