Passwords
...are your own damn responsibility.

Stop giving out your passwords and then complaining about it when you get hacked. Stop complaining that your hack report isn't addressed immediately. We wouldn't have a backlog if people stopped giving out their password.

There's no magic way to become rich. You have to work for it. That's the only way. You can work hard at posting, polling, lurking. You can work hard by drawing art. You can work hard by buying and selling stuff. But you have to work. You aren't going to get a bunch of gold or items by just filling in a form or the like. Simple as that.

No real staff member will ever ask for your password. We don't need it. If we did need your password to do stuff, that would make us totally unable to do our jobs. People who violate the rules would simply not give us access and we couldn't catch them. We absolutely will never ever need your password. If someone asks for your password, you can be 100% guaranteed that it is a scam.

Finally, don't give out your password to your family, your friends, other people you know. Even if you "trust" them. Friendships sour. Siblings fight. Someone recently told me their parents messed up their account as a punishment. You might think they will never do anything to you. You are wrong. It's happened over and over.

All of these have. History shows that these are all irresponsible ways to manage your password. Yet somehow people don't believe us. They persist in thinking that they can make a bunch of gold by filling out a form that asks for their password. They persist in thinking that some fake admin or fake mod needs their password. They persist in letting people they know have their password.

The best security we can provide is nothing compared to what users can do to help themselves. Someone can make you the most secure vault in the world, but if you don't lock it, then it doesn't protect anything.

I love Dogbert. XD

The admins give the best security they have for people and their accounts. Some in SF think it should be even more secure. This one guy suggested some type of method of locking out the IP if it's not the right one, which would hurt me since I have to change mine all the time if my school's server loses connectivity strength.

There really is no secret to duping hackers. Like you said, just have a secure password and don't tell others. I mean they warn people in PMs not give give their password away when replying. I guess people tend to ignore it after a while. :/

It really is annoying seeing people come and whine in SF or Q&A saying "Omg, but my parents make me play with her onliiiiine~" I say play with your sis or your bro somewhere else and not on Gaia. Or if you are on Gaia be sure to play with her and not leave your account with your sibling. -____-

People think IP tracking is the solution to everything. It's like a holy grail or some thing. If you look at people's IPs...all problems no longer exist.

If IPs were useful like that, then why would we even need passwords. We could just automatically log someone into their account when Gaia is accessed from that accounts IP.

Oh. My GAWD, boro. The s**t that shows up in your journal comments makes words fail me. Now if you'll excuse me, I need to go drink away the crushing pain of irony now.

People come up with the simplest passwords, and I think "123" is one of the most commenly used passwords.

That is true though. Harsh but true, people need to think of passwords that are complex and watch out for the scams that are sent to them in the PMs. IF YOU GET A PM THAT IS ASKING FOR YOUR PASSWORD AND THEY CLAIM TO BE A MOD. DON'T GIVE THEM YOUR PASS. YOU'LL BE SCREWED IN THE END IF YOU REPLY TO THAT PM.

And people still run around going "OMG! I GOT TEH HAXORED!" and then I end up getting reported for 'flaming/trolling' when I tell them to get over it...hmm...
