It was too late to go back. The words flowed out like a note from a musical instrument, “he knew the secret.”
Shade’s eyes opened wide and he look up from his shadowed corner in which he was still standing. Everybody looked at Chan in surprise. She continued, “Once he figured out the secret, he… he knew why it was so perfect…” her voice started to quiver a bit, but she let out her words anyways, “the Sheens would have gotten him!” The Sheens were Dia De Las Alas’ fighting and defense forces, which brought into question why it needed defenses and fighting forces if Dia De Las Alas was so perfect. There would be no reason for enemies, and no reason to make any. The Sheens were top fighters and were feared by many. If there were one disruption in the perfect land, the Sheens would come and take away whoever it was who disrupted it. They would never be seen again.
“He didn’t want to go through that…” From Shade’s dark corner he replied, “So why did you decide to live?” Chan looked at him in surprise from the abrupt question. Her hand tightened to the back end of the chair it was resting on, “because I wasn’t afraid.” She bit her lip to hold back her quivering chin and teary eyes. She looked down so no one could see her face as she did this. Suddenly she put on a cheerful face and happily told Joyce that she was all done. Just as Chan thought the conversation was over, Ron asked “Why didn’t you tell us this before?” She looked away, “Because… he knew the secret long before we did… he didn’t want to get us in any trouble… he… he told me that he knew the secret, but he didn’t tell me anything else.” Everything was silent.
They all stared at the ground as visions from the past flashed and raced through their minds. Visions of the secret. Visions of what they had done. Visions of horrible things.
Joyce thought of Trent in this short moment of misery which seemed to last an eternity. The small group of Fallens were all assassins. They were hired by certain people to kill others that were of no good and did not deserve to live. They did not kill people who did not do any wrong in the world. Trent was on a mission to Gandal to assassinate a certain man who did no good and was for sure not going to cause any positive greatness. The Fallens only cared for ridding their new world of its own impurities.
