Being away from home for a whole quarter [around three months] is a great experience. Okay, I came back twice during the quarter, but I am not lying about the experience part. I really like college. Not the school part so much. But I like learning new things and meeting so many different people. I really miss it now. I do not like it here. I was thinking of renting an apartment in the summer up at Davis, and not coming back. I think what I really like is living in the dorms. Everyone is just a walk down the hall or a short bike ride away. Next year, everyone would be living in apartments and houses all over the town. Plus, the dorm heater and showers are nice.
College is very different from high school. College is less clique-ish, but it still exist. There are some that still act like they are in high school, some of my friends included. The teaching styles are different. They are all lectures and rarely includes interaction with students. We also have discussions for certain classes, run by teachers' assistants and grad students. Hardly anyone talks in those, the few that does are the same ones every time. The professors have a lot of knowledge in what they teach; they have done research in that field; they are passionate in their field.
So how am I doing? I met a lot of new friends. I learn new subjects. I am close to failing calculus, and learn that I need to do something about that next quarter. I got into a few bike accidents [and came out alive, thank goodness]. Gained new experiences and a few pounds. I am looking forward to the new quarter and the new classes.
Classes I am taking next quarter: - Math 16B [if I find out that D+ is not failing] - General chemistry - Psychology - Mushroom, mold, and society - Human sexuality [still on waitlist, if I get in, I will drop mushroom, mold class]
