Dark x Deception
Synda had been staring at the desert for the longest time. She was starting to miss him...starting to want him to be by her side. She began to wonder if it was a mistake to have let Nimbus slip away from her...but the signs were hard to ignore. Nimbus obviously had more feelings for Sky and they got along way better than she and Nimbus ever did...it was just fate for them. Synda sighed as the rose against her ear began to brush along her temple as a gentle reminder that she was not forgotten by that one special someone. He had gone away, true, but for how long? Would he ever come back? Synda's tail flicked as she collapsed on the sand, tears swelling in her eyes. She missed him so and wished that he would be there for her..like Nimbus used to be...Slowly, the lioness got angry at herself. How DARE she even think about that cloud lion! They had something good and he walked off with his own kin. Clouds should stay with Clouds! Synda tried to be affirmitive with herself, but it didn't release the hurt that she felt when she saw her old friend and Sky together. They were like one...they completed eachother. Sighing, Synda let the tears flow. Where was her other half?! Did he forget her? Did he die? Did he find another to love?! Thoughts plagued her and the tears flooded more causing the dirt to darken much like her heart.
Blake
Blake was indeed in the desert, alive and well....in a manner of speaking. He'd not been able to get the Desert Rose off his mind. Sure, he'd talked to a few lionesses since he'd last seen her with Nimbus off in the distance....but he found no joy in it. In fact, he eventually came to realize that he compared every single one of them to her....and not a single one could compare. Sure, she was plainer than most lions, but her heart, her soul even, were big enough to make up for all that. That...and the sense that with her he felt like he was....home....
With a sigh, he finally got up from where he lay in his little hideaway and began to pace with his head lowered, and his ears drooping. There was a slight breeze blowing, and the sound of the leaves rustling, and the smell of the flowers around him, was like a knife in his heart. He had to see her again....even if it killed him to see her with someone else, he had to see her....but how? Finally he reached a point where he thought if he didn't do something he would burst, so he lifted his head to the sky and let out a roar of frustration and pain, long and loud, letting his voice be heard to a world who could care less about him at all.
Dark x Deception
Through her tears, she heard a roar. It was painful, longing, and it respected...her. No...it..it couldn't be. She got up and shook off her tears. The lioness stepped forward slowly then burst out into a sprint following the roar. Her feet barely touched the ground as she ran. It seemed so long, her muscles beginning to burn, but it didn't matter. As long as he was there, it would make everything all worth it.
After what seemed like forever, the roar still ringing in her ears. She saw his form, that black sleek form that captivated her. Slowing down, she stopped a few paces from him, out of breath. Synda wasn't what she used to be. Her form was thinner
than usual; she hadn't eaten since he left, nor drank. Her form was slightly faltering, but her voice was still the same.
"Blake..." She whispered, her eyes bright and hopeful. "Handsome Stranger...is it realy Blake?"

Blake
Blake let his head drop once more, and if Synda was thin, he probably looked no better. He had no clue when he last ate...he did drink, but it was more automatic (and the fact that water was right there, in ready access) but each day had just blended together in one big...well, he wasn't sure what to call it.
He heard her voice, but paid little attention to it....he'd heard it in his mind all too often, to really be surprised by it anymore. For a moment, he didn't even look at her, but then slowly raised his head. He looked her directly in the eyes, but said nothing, convinved she was a mirage...one that he'd seen so much off, but it still caught his breath. He longed to rush up to her, nuzzle her, to do something other than just stand there, but his mind just screamed she'd fade away, like all the other times he'd seen her image before him. Part of him wanted to walk away, close his eyes, but something about her just standing there kept him captivated.
He lifted one paw, but it lingered between stepping towards her, and moving away....his indecision was very apparent, in his eyes, posture...oh how he wanted the mirage to be real this time. He opened his mouth to speak, but no sound came out. Licking his lips, he tried again, a quiet whisper "S-...Synda?" He expected her to just fade away at the sound of his voice into the dream she'd become....but she didn't. Hesitantly, he gave in to the dream knowing the pain that would come as it always seemed to in the end, but he couldn't turn from her....never her. "Synda?"

Dark x Deception
Synda couldn't help but smile. Warm tears flooded her eyes as she rushed to him. The lioness buried her head into his mane taking in his scent. Her legs began to quiver as if to give on her, but she continued to stand, a purr forming in her throat. "Blake.." She whispered then looked into his eyes. Those same eyes that captivated her for so long. "Blake...it's Synda. It's really Synda...is it really Blake?" She questioned, the tears now free flowing. She whimpered gently continued to nuzzle him. Synda couldn't help but notice his appearance.
Oh how horrible he looked! He was sickly thin, and his coat was shabby and dingy. He seemed to have grown a little, but it didn't help. And his mane...once so beautiful, now dull and lifeless. What had happened to her had happened to her love. She whined gently and licked his nose. Synda couldn't stay up. She let her body collapse on the ground, her neck craned up slightly trying to touch Blake's muzzle with hers. She felt tired...oh so tired..."Blake..."

Blake
He stood there, simply staring at her as she nuzzled him for a moment, unsure if he'd died or if his mind had finally given out on him, or if she was truly here...WITH him. Finally deciding he'd rather give into the dream and enjoy it while it lasted he nuzzled her back, closing his eyes and drinking in her scent. He was sure he died, for heaven couldn't be this blissful, could it? Could it even compete with the joy he felt right at this moment? "Synda...oh my Desert Rose, how I've missed you," was all he could whisper.
It wasn't until she collapsed that he realized it was real, and that his love was seriously malnourished and dehydrated along with who knew what else. It broke his heart to see her in such condition...so thin, and frail. He knew he had to get some water into her somehow, not to mention food, but didn't like the prospect of leaving her at all. "Synda...you need to drink," he said, nuzzling her head, now aware of how exhausted she was. Carefully, he somehow managed to get her on his back, and took her the needed distance (not but a dozen or so steps) to the small pond that fed his oasis and settled her down just as gently. Carefully, he made a shallow depression in the ground and connected it to the pond so that the "bowl" filled with water and all Synda needed to do was lift her head to drink and nothing else. "Can you lift your head?" He settled down on her other side, prepared to do so for her if she could not alone. "You need to drink a little, my love..."

Dark x Deception
After that moment everything seemed like a blur. She rested against him as she was carried to his haven. The scent of water filled her nostrils making her unusually thirsty. Slowly, she lifted her head and began to drink slowly. Her tail flicked as she looked over at Blake, the smile never leaving her muzzle. "Yes, Blake. Synda is here, not fake." She stared at him a little. "Blake needs to eat and drink. When Synda is better, Synda will hunt for Blake because Synda loves Blake." She then went back to lapping up the water.
After her strength beginning to return, she came closer to his side and nuzzled his maned neck. Oh how she missed his scent, his smell, his form, everything! "Synda missed Blake so much...Synda was afraid Blake...Blake found another..." She sniffled gently. Brushing back her tears she looked up at him. "Blake called Synda Blake's love...so Synda knows that Blake has not found another. Blake loves Synda and Synda loves Blake!" She buried her head in his mane yet again. "Synda will never leave Blake again...never! Blake is Synda's Handsome Stranger!"

Blake
Blake purred happily when he saw her drink and knew he wouldn't lose her, in any way, and it grew louder as he saw her strength begin to return. "I could never find anyone as lovely, or as beautiful, as my Desert Rose. There's no one who can even begin to compare to my lovely Synda...though I thought you had chosen another, a cloud lion, and it broke my heart." He nuzzled her softly, seeking to hide his own tears of pain from thinking he'd never see her again, and happiness that she loved him and only him. "That is the only reason I stayed away, because I didn't want to come between you and another....I'm glad to find out I was wrong, a mistake I'll never forgive myself for."
Looking up, he eyed a couple of juicy rabbits who had taken refuge in the oasis lately. They didn't show fear towards the lions, since Blake had blatantly ignored their presence while he was busy nursing his broken heart, so had thought they were safe here. "However...no hunting, yet, for you. You are still too weak." He stood up, nuzzling her softly, urging her to stay where she was and rest, before quietly trotting away, and returning about 10 minutes later with both rabbits in his mouth. Setting them down in front of her, within very easy reach, he took his place one more beside her. "Eat, my love. You need them more than I."

The lioness knew she couldn't argue with Blake. Sighing a little, she chose the smaller of the two rabbits and began slowly eating, starting at it's thigh. After a while of eating, she felt like she needed to explain. Taking a deeep breath, she began. "Blake...Synda did have feelings for Nimbus, yes. But Nimbus betrayed Synda...Nimbus went to a different lioness...another cloud lioness named Sky. Sky is very beautiful and I saw how Sky and Nimbus got close. It went to the point where Synda never saw Nimbus without Sky around. So, after Synda told Nimbus that Nimbus should be with Sky and leave Synda be, Synda ran. Nimbus was heartbroken, but served him right for leaving Synda. So, Synda came here to Blake's hideaway and waited for Blake to return..." The lioness looked deeply into his eyes, a loud loving purr coming from her throat. Noticing his tears, she began licking them away before speaking.
"Synda will never leave Blake again..ever." She quietly promised him. Flicking her ears, she pushed the rest of the rabbit meat to him and began to drink the water again. "Blake should eat. Blake needs to get better so Synda and Blake can do stuff." Synda couldn't help but giggle, she felt like a cub again. Her voice was lighter than usual, but still slightly coarse around the letters making her voice slightly, and unusually attractively rasply and seductive. She didn't mean it, but Synda has matured while waiting for Blake's return...in more ways than one. She continued to babble. "Synda shall hunt for Blake, Synda shall take care of Blake, Synda shall do anything Blake wishes." She purred gently thinking. "Synda and Blake will have a good life together...yes? Now, Blake must eat."

Blake
Blake felt like he was floating, listening to her speak. Her voice...oh, it did such things to him...in fact, he got so lost in the sound of it that he had a hard time concentrating on what she was saying and it took him a moment to take it all in. "You never know what you have till it's gone...or at least you think it's gone. Blake will never leave Synda again, either. That was a mistake I intend never to repeat twice. You were all I could think about, all I dreamt about....I thought I was going to die. In fact, I didn't care to go on living anymore. I'm glad you feel the same." He nuzzled her and thought about arguing her into eating more, but decided that she'd probably be just as stubborn as he was and gave in, tearing into the larger of the two rabbits, but making sure to give her the most delicate and tasty parts so that she'd continue to get her strength back. While he ate, he wrapped his tail around hers lovingly and purred.
Dark x Deception
She blushed a little and continued eating. Her tail flicked gently brushing up against his as she ate along side him. Her strength was really returning and she felt alot better. "Synda coulda cared less if Synda had died...all Synda wants is Nimbus..." Synda licked his muzzle then went back to her meal. After the rabbits were nothing but bones, Synda rested against Blake licking his muzzle and paws clean of blood. She then procedded to work on her own paws and nose. Her flakes waved a little as she leaned against Blake, her eyes looking over the Oasis. She couldn't stop smiling knowing that the one she was was with her...here. She couldn't stop purring at the thought nuzziling against his black fur.
Blake
Blake was a bit surprised that Synda had cleaned him off, but her touch was as tantalizing as her voice, and as she turned to clean herself, he gave contented sigh, and lay with his eyes closed, enjoying the touch and weight of her body against his. All of a sudden, however, he realized there was alot about her he didn't know. Sure, he'd gleaned bits and pieces, but obviously some of his information had been wrong, like her choosing Nimbus over him.
Was she part of a pride? Were there other lions concerned about her welfare looking for her? Sure, he wanted to spend the rest of his life glued to her side, but he wasn't about to keep her from her family if she had any, and make her a prisoner of this Oasis...he certainly wouldn't be that possessive of her to keep her from everyone who cared about her. And thinking of prides....should they join one? Or if she had one, should he join it? Should they start their own? And if they did that....well, his mental list kept getting bigger and bigger till he didn't know which end was up, much less which question to ask her first, or if he should wait.
Lifting his head, he took a deep breath and just stared at her with love in his eyes, finally letting his heart take over. "Synda....we need to talk. About the future....maybe this is too soon to bring it up, but I just want what's best for you and our family. Like I told you when we first met, I've been a wanderer all my life...but is that the right life for you? For our cubs? Are you part of a pride? Should we consider joining one....?" He let his voice trail off, looking out to where the sun was starting to set, the colors were vibrant as usual, but for the first time in a long while he saw their true beauty, and looking at Synda, he could see the colors as they reflected in her eyes, and he fell in love with her all over again. Nuzzling her softly, he whispered, "I'm sorry for so many questions...I just want what's best for us and our future family."

Synda was taken off guard at the moment by Blake's voice. She had been mesmerized by the horizon. Smiling gently, she looked over at Blake hearing what he had to say. She nuzzled him gently. "Blake is being so responsible. Well..Synda does belong to a pride yes, but Synda can come and go as Synda pleases. Synda was born in the Outlands...Synda's mother did not want Synda, so Synda was cast away. Synda wandered into Pridelands and found Uncle Rellick and family. Synda sure Rellick would not mind Blake coming home with Synda...but Blake can live as Blake wants as long Synda is beside Blake." She smiled gently and nipped his nose. "Synda wants the best for family too...Consdering Synda and Blakes will have many babies." She giggled gently and nipped his ear playfully giving off a playful growl."So..any ideas for a pride, Blake?" She questioned gently trying to relax a little. Her tail flicked gently as she stared into his eyes lovingly.
Blake
Blake chuckled softly and returned her playful by nipping at her nose in return. "I'm sure we will, as I plan to never leave your side. Speaking of cubs, we'll need others to help watch those many cubs who will be troublemakers, I'm sure, always under paw, eating us out of the den....but none of that till you're stronger, my love. With all of that, though, maybe pride life would be the best way to go, as all of our horde will have protectors to keep them safe. We'll have to talk things over with Rellick, first, that much I know, but if we do decide to make our own pride eventually...would you do me the honor of being my Queen?" He knew what her answer would be already, but felt better making the idea more formal by asking it aloud...it seemed more romantic to him, for some reason.
Dark x Deception
She gasped staring into his eyes. "Blake..yes! Yes, Synda will be Blake's Queen!" Tears of happiness welled in her eyes as she nuzzled his neck softly. "Synda will be Blake's Queen." She repeated happily, her tail waving. "Synda sure Rellick will love Blake as well as rest of family." She wanted to get up and roar her head off with joy, but she knew that she had to rest and doing that would make her dizzy. Synda sighed beginning to daydream. "Synda wonders what cubs will be like...Synda hopes they will be as beautiful as Blake and not as ugly as Synda..." She sighed gently, her tail flicking.
Blake
Blake growled, playfully nipping at her ear, "If I have to spend the rest of my life convincing you that you are the prettiest lioness I've ever had the honor of meeting, then so be it. What you look like on the outside doesn't truly matter, it's who you are on the inside, how you treat others, that matters more." Lowering his voice to a purr, he added "Incidentally...I hope most of the cubs look as lovely as you. There is much I need to learn first, in order to take care of you and our family, and be the best mate I can be, if we do form our own pride, I don't think it'll be for awhile. We could always visit other prides as well, help us get a feel for things, form allies with other lions before we go off on our own....so much to think about...." Lovingly he nuzzled her, then lay his head on her neck and closed her eyes. "but for now, I'm happy just being with you."
Dark x Deception
Synda giggled and nipped his ear listening. "Alright, Alright, Synda is pretty." She gave up and nuzzled him gently. She curled around him a little, her tail brushing his slowly. "Synda and Blake can start out slow. Travel a little and when Synda and Blake find a place to settle down, Synda and Blake settle, and maybe start family. Right now, Synda agrees with Blake. Synda just wants to stay here with Blake..." She purred gently and sighed closing her eyes as well. She felt so at home here in the deserts, her tail flicking. The rose against her ear gently brushing against the two lions signaling their union. "Synda is Blake's forever..."
Blake
Blake chuckled lightly, and nipped her in return. "More than pretty, my love, but....I have the rest of my life to spend proving it to you, and...I never said starting a family HAD to wait. See, as we travel and since we're going to have so many cubs, it only makes sense to spread them throughout different prides. Then, they'll have to ally themselves with us since their members will be our children!" He was teasing a little about the family being so big, but he honestly didn't mind starting to raise a family now. As long as Synda was by his side, he was more than up to the challenge of becoming a father, and being the best dad he could be to their cubs.
"Even if we have cubs now, the experience will also be good for them. They'll get to socialize too, meet new lions, and learn along with me...er, us....well....you know what I mean. It'll be all good, I'm sure. But that's up to you, my love, and not till you've got you're strength back." He licked her muzzle lovingly, nipped her ear again, and lay his head back down on her neck to breath in her scent. A part of him was still having a hard time realizing she was with him, that when he woke up in the morning, this would be all a dream....oh, but what a dream it was.

Synda smiled a little. "Synda shall not use her cubs in that way, Blake. Besides, Synda can only have so many cubs at one time." She chuckled gently then sighed. "Synda sure everything will be alright...Synda and Blake shall live a happy life with family and never be parted again...right?" She stared over at her now mate with a questionative glance. Her tail flicked gently in thought. "Well..travel will not be bad. Blake can meet other lions and create bonds of trust while Synda stay home with cubs..." She flicked her ears in thought.
"This talk of cubs makes Synda...anxious. Synda would want cubs...but Synda is afraid that Synda will turn out to be like Synda' mother...Synda hates Mother with passion and would never want to see that pitiful excuse of a lioness again. Synda vow not to let Synda and Blake's cubs get away..." The tan lioness huffed gently, determination burning her eyes.

"Never again," Blake murmured, trying to comfort her with a smile and an affectionate lick. "There's nothing in this life that could take me away from you willingly, Synda. Our hearts are forever one, and I know you'll be a wonderful mother."
He nuzzled her softly before turning to watch the stars that were starting to show themselves overhead now, deep in thought for a few moments as he tried to think of his own parents, but no memory came to mind and it made him sad. "Obviously my parents never cared about me, since they basically left me to die in the desert as a kit..." he looked at her, smiling. "...but we're different. We're not like them, nor will I let myself ever be like them in any way shape or form. I was merely teasing about the idea of leaving some of our cubs with each pride....to be honest, when we have a family, I'd like us to stay together as much as possible. No cub of ours will ever be left behind, deserted, or grow up feeling that their parents never loved them, I know that." His eyes mirrored her own, showing both determination and love. "It'll be a tough road, but working together, we can do it."

Synda giggled gently, her tail flicking as she nuzzled Blake. "Blake will make wonderful father for cubs..." She murmured gently then stretched. Slowly, he got to her feet and took a few more sips of the water. Flicking her ears, she looked up. "Stars are beautiful..." Feeling slightly playful, the lioness nipped Blake's ears. "TAG!" She laughed and ran further into the Oasis. Her paws barely touched the ground as she seemed to fly, her old self slowly returning. Her laughter filled the air as the stars seemed to shine brighter for the two lovers and their playground.
Synda hid in the brush, her fur color completing her surroundings making her almost invisible. Her eyes were full of life as she calmed her breathing trying to hide from Blake. She kept her senses clear waiting for him, her muscles taut and ready.

Blake
Blake watched Synda rise and drink, grateful to see that she was starting to look better, though it would take at least a week (if they managed to get a few good hunts in) before they began to look almost normal once more...if a bit thinner. He had just turned to look up at the stars once more, when she tagged him and ran off laughing. He lay there for a moment, having been taken by complete surprise and watched her run off. How graceful and full of life she was! Chuckling, he got up and shook himself off before trotting the way she'd gone. He took it slowly, partially afraid of exhausting himself too quickly, so early in the game, and partially to give her a chance to hide.
The moon was begining to rise as he came to a halt, closing his eyes, and sniffing the air. Sure, he knew every inch of this oasis, but there were quite a few places to hide (something he'd found handy as a cub, helping him to keep from being eaten). He could smell her, just barely, the scent of the flowers nearly overpowering it and he knew he wasn't going to exactly find her that way, unless he got extremely lucky. Neither would he find her easily by sight, her markings matching the deserts too closely, which gave her a very nice advantage. "Synda?" He called, a playful growl to his voice, enjoying the challenge of trying to find her. "Where'd you go my love?" He poked at a bush that was a few feet from where she was hiding, but found nothing and moved on, completely missing her to poke at another bush a few feet in the other direction, thinking aloud "I think I was a cub when I last played this....it's been so long....Oh Synda! I won't give up till I find you....Are you here? Nope...Here?...hmm...where could you be?" He kept up his running commentary, not really realizing he was doing it, and still kept missing Synda, though he had to have walked by her hiding place three times by this point.

Dark x Deception
Synda held back her giggle, her tail flicking gently. Suddenly, she bursted through the grasses pouncing on his back. Nipping his ear, her laughter filling it as she bursted away from him toward the deserts again. Synda made a sharp left into the brush hiding in the deep bushes. Looking around, she noticed a few trees. Smirking, she began to climb them, her claws hooking to the bark. Climbing a few more, she stopped keeping close to the tree and near to the top so her feathers and flakes blended well.
One thing's for sure, if Synda and Blake ever chose to live in the deserts...they would never go hungry..thank to Synda of course. She giggled at the thought then waited for her mate yet again to try and find her.

Blake
Blake was poking at yet another bush when she pounced him, nipped and ran off again. Though still taken a bit by surprise, he only hesitated a moment, laughing, before following after her, this time trying to keep her in sight, but lost sight when she entered some deep foliage which foiled his plot to see her hiding place. Slowing his pace, he eyes were fixed on the brush, and not on the trees, and missed her climbing up them, the sound of the shaking leaves being masked by the night wind that had sprung up. He circled the trees, searching the brush as silently as he could, this time without the commentary, before looking up in the trees.
Putting his front paws on the trunk, he looked up, hoping to catch some glimpse of her but with it being so dark she blended in so well, that he missed her once more. Searching a second tree, he spotted a pair of eyes somewhere near the middle, and smiled before leaping as high as he could with a yell of triumph....only to discover it was a raccoon, scared out of it's wits as it leaped back into it's den, that had taken up residence. Sighing with defeat, he jumped back down, and began circling around the area, wondering if she'd moved on without him seeing to another spot of oasis...

Laughing, she jumped from the tree landing on Blake's back once again. This time she stayed there purring lightly and nuzziling her mate. She grew tired of the game and just wanted to be by mate's side.
"Synda found Blake!" She giggled, her tail flicking gently. Jumping off Blake, she kept close to him, purring and rubbing against him, her tail feathers running across his tail and back. She nipped his ear gently and chin as she felt better close to him. "Synda loves Blake oh so much..." She whispered gently.

Blake
"Hey! Thought I was supposed to find you, not you find me, silly!" Blake nuzzled her softly after she'd jumped down off his back, loving the feel of her against him. "And Blake loves Synda....I have to admit this feels like a dream, one that I hope I never wake up from. It's just so....perfect....and right. I thought I knew what home felt like before, every time I came back here, but now I know that I didn't have half a clue. Home is wherever you are, my love, as long as I'm with you, that's all that matters to me."

Synda giggled. "Oh...Blake, that's sweet. Synda wants to go wherever Blake goes, Synda will. Synda will never leave Blake." She nuzzled him gently and lovingly. Her tail flicked a little. "Synda doesn't want to wake up, either..." She sighed gently and nuzzled her mate lovingly. "What does Synda and Blake do...?" Synda flicked her tail a little.
Blake
Blake nuzzled her back, "Well, we'll enjoy it while it lasts, after all, what else is there that we can do? Perhaps, though, we should start our journey together tomorrow...in the morning light....as the new day dawns, so does the rest of our lives together. We can take it slow, go back to your pride and I can have a talk with Rellick, then we'll get our strength back and just...go from there."

Synda giggled, flicking her tail gently. She sighed gently and curled up in the warm desert sands near to Blake. She hummed gently and nuzzled his neck. "Alright, Blake. Synda and Blake can wander then go into a pride and live together..." Synda smiled slowly closing her eyes, the thrumming continuing.
