Well... Today was the annual band Christmas concert. I was kind of pessimistic going into it because our band rehersals lately have been anything but spectacular. One song especially I knew was going to suck... But, actually, we did really freaking awesome. I was super surprised that we were able to do as well as we did. It was a great show. One of the rare times I was actually proud to be in band.
Unfortunately, after I got home, things kind of blew up in my face.
Burgers, one of my fish, died... His and Cheese's tank has been really disgusting for awhile now. I did everything I could to try and fix it; added gravel, got a bubbly thing my dad said would help, this stuff that you put into the water to make it clearer, even got a new filter... None of it even made a dent. So, about two days ago I noticed that Burgers was acting weird. He was laying on the bottom of the tank on one side, which fish usually don't do. I had been meaning to clean out the tank anyway, so I decided that I had better do it soon. That night when I had time, I filled up their temporary fish bowl and let the water sit so that it would be okay for them to live in the next day. Before I went to school, I put both Cheese and Burgers into the other bowl and hoped that Burgers would get better with the new water.
I came home that night to find that Burgers hadn't shown any improvement. Maybe it would take time. So, I emptied out the fish tank to get it ready for new water. Unfortunately, this took forever and a day because I had to empty it by running a big glass bowl back and forth from my room to the bathroom, then I had to clean the gravel and other nice fishtank stuff. By the time I was done with that, it was getting late and I had to finish some homework, so I decided to fill up the tank the next day.
The Christmas concert was tonight, so I was going to fill up the tank after I got home. I came home before the concert to change and found out that Burgers had died... bleh. The tank is now full and is going to sit overnight so it will be ready for Cheese tomorrow morning, but I'm really upset about Burgers. Them fish are like my kids. D: I love them. Not to mention I feel especially bad because I thought it might've been my fault that Burgers died... Like, because of the water or something.
But, I don't think his cause of death was the water. At least not directly. Fish usually just kind of kick the bucket and float to the top when they die from the water being bad in some way... Burgers had been showing signs of maybe a disorder or disease beforehand. Like, favoring the one side and having trouble getting off of the bottom of the tank. When I pulled him out of the water today, the side he was favoring was green. He's a white and black fish. Maybe it was just because of the way he'd been laying most of the day, but I'm going to do some research to maybe figure out how he died. I'm still upset, but at least it might not have been my fault, which would make me feel like less of a bad owner...
So, today was a bad day. D: School sucked, my fish died, Andrew and I got in a bit of an argument, I'm PMSing really bad... D: I hate everything. The concert went really well but that's kind of getting overlooked in my mind right now because of everything else going on. Gah... ;__;
Off to solve a mystery. D: Yay CSI.
