*sighs* And let me tell you what with... *smiles* Another college essay! ;D
(Yeah, I'll get to thanking everyone for their gifts. I've already started on getting gifts for Christmas! ;O Everyone that got me something for my birthday will get a Christmas gift.... no one else. ;P Unless you ask nicely, of course.)
Here's my finished essay:
As I sit at a Starbucks sipping my hot chocolate and thinking about life, I stare at a Sudoku book. Why think about life? It just seems like a popular past-time for those who spend countless hours in coffee shops. I thought about what I would want in the perfect man; all of the qualities that he must possess. I began writing my list: honesty, kind-hearted, easy to talk to, knows where he’s going in life, respectful, and able to joke around every now and then.
I doodle on a scrap sheet of paper as thoughts swirl around in my mind. “Someone that I would be physically attracted to, carry intelligent conversations, and wouldn’t mind a bit of light flirting.” Not a bad list as far as I was concerned.
The tinkling of a bell pierces through the silence of the shop. I look up to see who has disturbed my solitude, and my jaw drops. The pressure I put onto the pencil almost makes the tip break off. There he stands; from what I could see, the perfect guy. He walks in, orders a small coffee, and sits down at a table. I pick up my Sudoku book, and peer over as he puts on a pair of glasses and starts to read a science fiction book.
After a few moments, I gather my courage and put my glasses away. My heart pounding in my chest, I walk towards his table and sit in the chair across from him. Not yet knowing his name, I quietly stutter my name. A flash of a smirk played about his lips as he replies that his name is George. I blush and ask him about the book in his hands.
Looking back in my cup, I realized that George’s eyes reflect the same rich hues as my drink. His speech hints at a higher intelligence, the vocabulary of our conversation flowing as gracefully as a swan across a lake. We continue to talk for about an hour, until he says that he has to leave. My heart flutters with each step he takes away from me. He opens the door and, with a look of longing in his eyes, smiles a sweet good-bye.
After watching him walk away, something on the table catches my eye. George had forgotten his bookmark. I pick up the paper-thin marker, and think about chasing him down. Then I take a second glance and realize that his number is scribbled on the back. Suddenly, a loud bell rings in my ears and startles me back to reality. I look at my surroundings, a bit puzzled. Where did the coffee shop go? All I can see are the walls of a classroom crowded with students. I don’t even bother to hide my smile while I walk to my next class.
(any comments are luffed to no end. whee )
