The Yeah Yeah Yeahs are a 3 piece indie rock band out of New York. The 3 pieces being Nick Zinner on guitar and keyboard, Brian Chase on drums, and the incredible Karen O as the front-man, vocalist, and vocal soloist. I don't know if vocal soloist is a real thing but she'll bust into voice solos like other people do with instruments. Shes a very eccentric front-person and just slightly too bohemian for my tastes sometimes but I'll be damned if shes not my favorite female singer out there. Their sound as a band is New-York-punk-y, sometimes electronica-y and has that sort of unusual catchyness that I love in my music. I can't say I know much about guitars, but I find myself a lot of times wondering how Zinner gets those sounds out of that instrument. Chase on drums reminds me a lot of Ringo Starr in The Beatles in that hes not the fanciest drummer in the world but that's not because he can't play well. The opposite in fact, he plays exactly what the song needs to be the best it can be. More complex drumming does not always equal better drumming. Karen O is sexy as hell, a stellar vocalist, but has Lady Gaga's fashion sense which is a bit of a turn off for me. I still would tho. It was hard choosing which video to put up, but Gold Lion is one of my favorites from this band and I feel like the video showcases each of the band members talents and their artistic sense as a whole.
