So Section 3 of the Defense of Marriage Act, also known as DOMA, has finally been struck down by the courts. The Supreme Court ruled it unconsitutional, Justice Kennedy even said "DOMA writes inequality into the entire United States Code."
Sadly, section 2 still exists, which allows backassed states to decide not to honor the marriage any same-sex married couple that moves to the state. fuck that shit.
But already Sen. Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif., and Rep. Jerrold Nadler, D-N.Y. are working on reintroducing the Respect of Marriage Act (RoMA, which interestingly enough can be read backwards as Amor, or "Love". I wonder if that was intentional?) which would repeal DOMA entirely.
So yay.
