Daily Blahs About Life in the Real World
It's obviously gonna be about how much it sucks that it's not three years ago. But there's no reason not to brag about the little victories, just as much as theres no reason not to complain about the losses.
Learning the Hard Lessons
WARNING:
This entry may or may not have some graphic and disgusting parts to it. Read at your own risk.

Anywho; the whole point of today's entry is about some of the hard lessons Ive had to learn in life, or really about one in particular that I learned today.

I remember that as a kid my dad always tried to help me out of situations by telling me about his own fails and hoping that would suffice for me. Unfortunately for us both, I was a stubborn b*****d (still am sometimes). It's now that I see where his desire came from to shield me from the woes of the world and his downright kindheartedness not wanting others to suffer the way he had. It is in this spirit that I tell you my story.

Let us set the scene. It's June in Afghanistan, it's been at least 7 months since the last time I had anything "spicy". I am a kid from the border of Mexico and Yuma, AZ; spicy foods are what I crave. On one particular day I happen to feel an overwhelming desire for some chips and salsa. As luck would have it the local convenience shop just so happened to get restocked that day. Rushing in I grab a couple bags of tortilla chips and to big jars of salsa covered in lots of pretty red colors and labels saying HOT.

Eager to begin enjoying myself I rush back to my barracks room, salivating at just the thought of getting a little taste of home after so long. I admit I may have let my impulses get the better of me, made more apparent after two hours had gone by and both jars were empty and chips bags depleted. It was pretty dang tasty I must say.

Fast forward to the following day. I'm practically doubled over from the pain my stomach is wrecking on the rest of my body. The idea of walking the 15 minutes to work is almost enough to make me sick on its own. (Here's the nasty bit) I made several very painful and ungainly trips to the bathroom that morning, and even still in the afternoon. The stuff leaving me seems to have been melted into something less than liquid, by the very same substance I was so eagerly shoving into my face just the day earlier. Gingerly wiping I pull up a handful of blood-stained toilet paper, its sudden absense from my tush bringing a very unwelcomed stinging sensation.

The moral to this whole thing? If you haven't gone swimming in 5 years maybe deep sea snorkling isn't the best way to start again. (ie; ease back into it, and for the love of God, don't overdue it the way I did.)

I hope you all have a wonderful day.

I'm sorry but that was quite humorous.
