So, yesterday I went to Colossalcon 10 in Sandusky Ohio. For those who don't know, it's an anime convention. It's not as big as Ohayocon in Columbus, Ohio, but I think I had even more fun at this one. (Yes, I am capitalizing in this journal entry. I just thought that it would make it more easier to read this way.)
So, this is my second anime convention. My first one (obviously) was Ohayocon in January (I went as Bellarus from Hetalia in that one. I was meaning to write a journal entry about that, but I totally forgot. I glared at every Russia i saw!). I went as Misa Amane from Death Note. My friend Kaley went as Tony Chopper from One Piece, and her sister just wore a One Piece t-shirt.
The car ride took abot 2 hours. Mum was driving all my siblings and us over to Sandusky, us so we could go to the convention, and the sibs so they could spend the day at Kelley's Island (did you know that Lake Erie has islands? Who knew!). She dropped us off at the Kalahari hotel, where the convention was at. We couldn't find the convention center anywhere, and looked three times in the wrong place, but eventually we found a person going as Haruhi Suzumiya, and followed her to the center, and all was good.^^
We signed in. I was surprised by the lack of a line. The line to sign in at Ohayocon took two hours to go through (but that was alright, because there were so many different costumes to look at, and you could talk to anyone in line, so you never really got bored). At Colossalcon, you just walked up to the desk, got your badge, and wandered in.
The first thing we looked at was the Dealer's Room, a room full of shops and over-priced anime-related items. T-shirts, posters, manga, drama CD's, DVD's, key chains, phone charms, swords, gothic clothing, wigs, (and of course there was hentai...) whatever you can name, it was there. I bought a Jack Skellington wallet. The wallet I was currently using, I never liked it in the first place. It was just something Mum gave me about a year ago so I'd stop stuffing everything into my back pocket.
After that, we went to the Kuroshitsuji (Black Butler) Host Club. To tell the truth, it was unbelievably boring. We left pretty early after that. Um, to tell the truth, I kinda forget what happened after that. I think we started looking around the Dealer's Room. Kaley asked me if I wanted to see the English voice actor for Italy from Hetalia, and I said no, accedentally... We went in near the end of his panel, though, where he was speed answering questions. Turns out he's unbelievably funny, and he also voices Death the Kid from Soul Eater and hikaru from Ouron High School Host Club as well as other things which I don't know.
So, the reason we sneaked in at the end of his panel was to see the "Ask a Nation" panel, where you can ask any nation from Hetalia any crazy question that pops into your head (well, not any question, but there was an 18+ panel of the same thing later that night that we wouldn't've been allowed to see). (And yes, as a matter of fact, I am in love with Hetalia. There's bound to be a video recording of it on YouTube, soon. Once I see it, I'll post the link on here so you can enjoy it as well. America was drinking Coke out of the largest McDonald's cup I had ever seen in my life! I was tempted to go up and ask him if i could take a sip out of it, but decided against it. I was kind of upset that I wasn't wearing my Belarus cosplay, because I would've loved to see Russia's face as I went up and said, "Onii-chan!!! Marry me!!! Marry me!!! Marry me!!! Marry me!!!" and he'd hide under the table, then I'd lift up the table cloth, growling and glaring (i have a very scary glare by the way, I gave two of my best friend the exact same nightmare from it). I wonder if I would've been able to give him nightmares... We left near the end of it, so we could see the Giant Pokemon Battle. Unfortunately, the schedule was wrong, so we missed it a long time ago.
I think we went to see what was going on in the game room, and I found that they were playing Rock Band. I've never really played Rock Band before, but there's barely any difference from Guitar Hero, so I played bass a little bit for it (and by the way, Guitar Hero's not dead. Their Facebook page says that they're just on "hiatus" for this year, but next year, they will have something).
I don't think we went to any more panels for the rest of the day, but we did get Todd Haberkorn's (Italy) autograph. I had him sign my Colossalcon booklet, Kaley did too, as well as a Hetalia wallet she got (with America on it). She then asked him to shout out "pasta" for everyone to here. He did, so loudly I thought I lost some hearing in my left ear.
We found a group dancing to the Nyan Cat song. It's really easy. There was a website where you could have endless Nyan Cat, so people could join the dance and leave whenever they wanted to. The last I'd heard, they were going for 3800 some seconds (the site tracks how many seconds it goes). It was a lot of fun dancing with them, but for the rest of that day, as well as since the start of today, I've had the Nyan Cat song stuck in my head. Here's the link if you want it: http://nyan.cat/
We went back to the game room, where I played drums, and sang Flyleaf's "I'm so Sick", including the screams. I think I scared everyone in the room with my abilities. I kind of wish Kaley recorded it, because then I could scare you as well^^
In the middle of all this, we found some sort of empy corner where they were playing techno versions of anime music. I just suddenly burst into dancing, Kaley and Amara (a girl from school who hung out with us a bit) soon joined, then a group passed us by, where two of the dudes in there jumped in and joined us. There was also a Grell (Black Butler) on the other side of the hall who was dancing really awkwardly at Sebastian (also Black Butler).
There were so many people wearing "free hugs" signs. Kaley tried to get as many hugs as possible. Since I was always with her, the huggers also thought I would want one as well, but soon learned (with much discomfort) that I was allergic to hugs, and burst into a rash anytime anyone did that to me.
Near the end, we found a group of people who sat at the sides of the hall and clapped at every person who passed through. We, of course, joined them. Most people didn't care, but there were some who would dance or skip through. There were a couple of people who did the worm. Other people kept protesting and hiding their faces and acting all embarressed. There were a few who simply accepted it-"Thank you! Thank you! Yes, I deserve this applause!"
After that, It was time to go home. I showed off my new Death Note t-shirt, which had a page form the death note, saying "Col. Mustard in the library with the lead pipe". I saw it at Ohayocon, and loved it, so I had to get it now. I also found a bat hair pin, and wore it for the rest of the day. There's also a poster of Russia I bought. Kaley got a Nyan Cat poster, where on the rainbow there's characters from so many different animes, like meowth. I unfortunately can't remember that much from it. She also got two Hetalia t-shirts with WWII quotes on it- one showing Japan and Germany, who was carrying Italy over his shoulder, and a quote saying "We're not retreating- we're advancing in another direction." I don't remember what the other t-shirt she got said. She also had a couple other things, but I don't know what they are.
So, that's the end of my great Colossalcon adventure. Of course, that's not all that has happened, but some of the stuff I probably forgot, and other stuff I just omitted because it either wasn't that important, or for respect of others. I'd love to put up some pictures, but I don't know if Kaley's put them up on Facebook yet. I'll get them^^
Until next time, hiccups^^
