As the plane got closer, and closer to the terminal, I began to collect my things. I folded up my blanket as small, and thin as I could make it, and shoved it into my small backpack. I dug the mirror out of my toilety bag, and began to fix my mop of blondish brown hair, placing every strand where it was suppose to go. Mia and I were escourted off the plane first - I can't decide if it's because we had no luggage, or because the male stewardist on the plane had seemed to take a liking to us.
As we exited the terminal, and into the airport, we found ourselves in a sea or panicking parents, and eager little children, each carrying around their individual carry-on's, filled with food, and other things to keep preoccupied on their flight. Food. Thats right! In all the comotion, I had almost entirely forgot that I still needed food, even if Mia didn't. I usually prefered to fill my stomach with blood, but seeing as we were in a airport, and I could survive on human food, a Vanilla Cinamon Latte would have to do.
Mia and I found our way over to a cute little cafe in the middle of the main floor, "I think we need to stop somewhere to get new clothes, I'm not living out of this outfit for the next century." I whispered to Mia as I grabbed my latte of the counter, and slipped the cashier a hefty tip.
Mia nodded in agreement as we made our way over to a small table with two chairs in the corner.
The Cafe was small, cozy. The lighting some what dim, and the walls filled with deep chocolates, and oranges, more earthy tones, definitely not my taste, but still comfortable.
"I agree with you there, and there's plenty of shops in Seattle for us to get clothes." Mia said as we sat down, Mia crossed her legs and had to remember to move atleast every five seconds so she didn't seem anything more than human.
I sipped my latte as we talked.
So it was decided, we'd take a quick shopping trip, and then run to forks.
I finished my latte in silence as we both thought through where, and what we needed from whatever department store we ended up at.
My stomach was now some what full, and we decided to leave the over crowded airport.
We walked through the revolving doors, as usual, attracting many stares, and glances from men, and women.
Mia flagged down a cab driver with ease, and we hopped in the beaten old cab.
I slid in first, attempting to touch as little of the discusting seats as I could, and Mia slid in gracefully next to me.
The drivers eyes got huge as we both made our way into the car, surely, we were probably the most exciting people he'd ever driven around.
"Hey, Sweethearts, where yah headed?" He asked, sliding his sunglasses down to the bridge of his nose so he could get a better look, flicking the butt of his cigarette out the window.
"Take us to the nearest shopping district, and since you can't manage to keep your eyes on our faces, I'd expect you to be a gentlemen and possibly reduce the fee to half?" The way Mia asked it sounded like more of a demand then a request, the poor man couldnt refuse.
Mia suddenly burst into an uncontrolable series of giggles, and gave me the I'll let yah know later face.
About a half and hour later, we arrived at a small strip mall that wasn't filled with much but two department stores, and a movie theatre. The drivers human speed was irritating me - I couldn't tell if he was driving especially slow because he still needed to get a good look at us, or if it was just my impatience.
He let us out at the opening of the largest department store, I slid out of the cab, more than eager to get out of the pig stye that poor man was driving around, and stretched, Mia followed my lead, and did the same. Mia handed him his money, he rolled up the window, lit another cigarette, and drove away a little slower than was necessary.
As we entered the doors to the department store, we decided it would be best if we split up, Mia had been itching to be shopping, and I was never any good at picking at clothes, so she sent me to go find two nice hand bags to carry our clothes in.
I headed to left side of the store, scanning the eisles as I walked, taking my time. I was in no hurry now, all I needed to do was find two hand bags, and be done. I played with a strand of my hair as I walked, sort of day dreaming, but yet still completely aware of what was going on around me.
I came to the bag section, and decided that we would both need two different things.
I decided to go with a decent sized faux leather backpack for Mia, seeing as her style was always more refined, more modern then mine was, and I chose a black faux leather messenger back for myself, seeing as my style was more... edgy.
I continued to mozey around the store until I decided that more than enough time had gone by, and Mia had to be done shopping by now. On my way to the cash register, I came across a few accessories, and decided I had to have them.
A white head band with red and purple flowers, it was adorable, and resonably priced, Mia wouldn't refuse. I then decided I should get something to kind of match the head band, and came across two purple bracelets. I gathered my things, and headed to the front of the store.
Mia had been waiting, but that was okay, I sighed when I saw the huge pile of clothing that she had managed to find.
Three pairs of jeans each, two denim for me, and a pair of bright red ones, a couple of sweaters, 2 flannel shirts each, and a few different tee-shirts. I eyed a black and white diagnle striped shirt, and decided it would go very nicely with the red jeans, and my head- band and bracelet.
We purchased our items, and headed behind the store that was heaviliy wooded. We changed, me into the outfit I had imaged in the store, which turned out much better then I had expected, everything hugging my body perfectly, and reflecting my style impeccably. I slid on my converse and waited for Mia to finish changing.
Mia decided to go with something a little different then me, she was wearing a nice blue button down blouse, and black pendant necklace, pair of skin tight jeans, her fishnet stockings, stelletos, a black bow in her hair, and a pair of black sunglasses to hide the red of her eyes, I chuckled a bit at the sunglasses.
Steletto's. Even the word made my feet ache.
I made sure my clothes were secured inside my bag, and waited for Mia to fasten the strapes on her back-pack and we were off running, I only trailed about a mile behind her, but she was still in perfect sight.
Not long after we started, I could hear the waves crashing up against the shore, and the cliff's that surrounded the beach. The salty air was brilliant.
Suddenly, Mia stopped dead in her tracks, and I speeded ahead. I back tracked about two miles, and found Mia panicking.
Then I smelled something, it was a smell i'd never inhaled before, not a vampire, it wasn't sweet enough. Not a human, it wasn't appetizing at all. It was something completley different. Like.. a mix of freshly cut grass, and tree bark, or the smell after it rains, it was intriguing... almost... wonderful.
I inhaled deeply, to become more sure of what I was smelling, but I couldn't put a name on it.
Mia's face twisted into udder discust, and fear,
"No," she whispered, drawing in her breath.
At that moment I understood why she was so terrified. I turned around to be faced with three, gigantic, snarling, wolves.
