Yup, I'm finally getting around to it! I'm making a corset! An 8-panel underbust.
I drafted the pattern about two weeks ago in 1:8 scale. I then scanned it in and printed it out at uni at true size. 8D
Copied off each piece, added seam allowance, and started on my corset yesterday!
I have used:
White canvas with a big strawberry print
White drill (it had stretch so it's also interfaced)
Twill tape, about 4cm wide
Birch 9mm (?) boning, doubled up all over the corset
Some plastic boning stolen from a dress
Green satin ribbon, 3cm-ish wide
I won't say it's been easy, as although I knew IN THEORY how to make one, I'd never got my hands on an underbust before.
--All WIPs are of only one half of the corset, though both are completed at the same time--
Earliest WIP pic I have, lining attached to cover by centre front and centre back seams.
Boning channels (whole corset is currently inside out)
Crappy Birch boning:
Corset in major WIP stage:
Crappy Birch eyelets that split and burr and catch lacing (not using these, going shopping for better stuff tomorow):
Corset complete but for eyelets and lacing:
