So I was walking through a park when this little girl comes up to me. She tells me that she and her brother are lost and don't know where to go. My heart quivered as I watched her twin sibling come and hug her. I told them I would do all I could to find their parents.
And I spent the next hour looking for them, all the while the two little ones followed. But for the life of me, I couldn't find a single soul who recognized the two. Tired and at a lost, I sat on a bench while watching the two siblings playing on a jungle gym about twenty feet away, feeling sorry that I hadn't found their mother and father.
When suddenly, a young man sat next to me. I opened my mouth to ask him, against all odds, if he happened to have two children. But before I could say anything, his eyes met mine. Time suspended. But when it resumed, I asked him what I had been asking everyone who crossed my path. He shook his head, almost sadly, and told me that he didn't.
He then said that if he were to have any children, he would like to have two. A boy and a girl had he found the right woman. I sighed and agreed, should I find the right man.
He asked me why I asked him if he was a father and I answered that there were two children, a boy and a girl, who were lost and couldn't find their parents. He nodded and asked me where they were. I pointed to the playground where they were playing at.
No one was there, he told me. I turned and looked and almost cried. No one was there.
Someone might've taken them, I muttered. Or they might've wandered off.
Or perhaps they weren't lost at all, the man next to me murmured. I looked at him and he looked at me and we knew exactly then that the children had found their parents.
This short little story was brought to you by the loving emotions caused by the national phenomenon of Valentine's day. XD Considering the special occasion, kindly throw chocolates or roses. :3
