what is this? they asked...

They demended An explanation... One which took me years to explain to myself

I couldn't come up with anything they were going to accept...

I expected as much... Everything I say falls upon deaf ears

I respected their opinion as ... The best thing for all of us
but I don't know anymore... I had to stop and actually think ... What's best for myself

I realized they were being selfish... Looking out for themselves first

Everything they asked of me came with a motive... A motive not being my own happiness, but to save face
