Chapter 6 Lazy and Excessive Part 1 Elements
Morning broke through the windows, I almost forgot what the sun looked like. I woke and grabbed my gear and a few other things and went outside to meet with Alandra. When I got to the village’s edge which lead toward Lesth’s nearly completed temple, Alandra was already there waiting for me. “Your late.” She said. “Sorry, haven’t slept in a bed for 6 months, it was relaxing.” “Fine, whatever. Lets go.” She ran away from the rising sun and I followed her after. The trip would take a day or two and so we decided to train a little on the first day. She asked me to show her the fruits of my training. I did a few simple spells of each element type. She nodded and said that today we were now equals. “But I guess you are the Sensei, now.” She said embarrassingly. Afterwards, to past the time, she asked about my journey so far. So I told her. I told her how it began to how it got to there. She said I was an amazing story-teller, but I doubt it. Finally, we reached what we guessed was Lesth’s pyramid certainly looked like him. We waited outside to be far from Lesth as we hoped possible. I then used my new magic to create Wind-based creature, so they couldn’t be seen and most would think it is the wind. They swirled around and came back to draw out the layout and guard schedule. After some heavy calculations and planning, we came up with a way to get to Lesth’s room through quick changes in guards. We waited in till nightfall to pursue. Soon the warm desert air became a cool chilling breeze and when the sun hit the horizon we dashed off towards the temple. Sneaking from shadow to shadow, from corner to corner, and from boxes to well you get the idea. We slowly entered Lesth’s temple. From there on we move quickly to try and not make a sound not a single breath of air or the slightest bit of a landing on the ground. We used are limited wind magic to glide with only touching ground to keep moving or to stop when guards come by. It wasn’t easy for me to much, but Alandra seemed very athletic and manage to go farther. Soon we were deep within the temple chambers and came across a maze. Alandra felt confident then we heard a scream in the maze and Alandra was going to investigate, but I stopped her before she entered and an ax came down inches away from her nose. She started to trembled then turned to me and with a scared, shy, embarrassed face thanked me from being chopped. I teased her a bit causing her to get a bit angry. We then proceeded into the maze and while dodging or trying to not active traps, we found many dead bodyguards. We guessed that either Lesth is either that cruel or the guards weren’t use to the traps. Either way we knew to avoid getting near them and slowly we reached the end of the maze, however this time Alandra stopped me just as the floor I was about to step on collapse to a spike pit. She looked at me with a sort of wicked smile. “We’re even, okay?” I whispered. “Heh, not even close.” She whispered back. I let out a sweet drop. She certainly had changed since I first met her. “But let’s focus on Lesth first then I’ll give it to you badly.” “Fine, lets hurry.” We jumped over the pit and hurried over to what seemed to be the last chamber. In it was tons of gold and jewels as well as a throne with a humanoid figure sleeping on it. We walk slowly and carefully till we reach the chamber. Then his ear wiggled, he stretched and sat up on his throne. “I am amazed that you manage to not only get through the maze, but to do so without disturbing me.” He said, then began clapping his hand, “I am honored that you’ve come this far to die again, Nobody, and if it isn’t the Alandra the Mystic, such a shame what happen to your brother.” He laughed. Alandra changed towards him, but he jumped out of the way and floated above us. “Predictable and troublesome.” He sighed. “Let’s just end this.” He charged for me, but when he came close, I blasted him with fire magic. “Ouch….NOT!” He said. “Like you can hurt me with magic.” But as he said that a stone fell I went and saw that it was a block talisman. Soon it lit up and rejoined with Lesth/ A block talisman works as a way to block element strikes. Usually they are only good once then need to recharged, but their was another way to hold them; a block tablet. A block tablet was a stone where you could set stones for them to recharged, but once it recharged the tablet lost the talisman on it and began to crack and if it broke all the talismans would be null. “Alandra, shoot him with water.” I shouted. “You don’t have to tell me twice.” She shot a water spell as I shot an earth one. We continued the onslaught of spells till then was only two left. The one that had to hit at the same time. Meanwhile, Lesth was gasping for breath bouncing around the place. I charged up the dark magic while Alandra charged up the white. We both had to hit him at the same time or something bad could happen. Last time I heard it happen some kind of demonic creature was formed. We waited and finally Lesth left himself open and we fired. He took the hit and his tablet crumbled as well as his barrier. “Bothersome.” He said. Then he performed another barrier spell. “This is so bothersome.” He then moved his staff in a full circle then two black skulls floated around him and were covered in a purple flame and their eyes flashed red. They moved towards us at high speeds and nearly bit off our arms. “Now I shall put an end to all of this vexing thing once and for all.” He aimed for Alandra and she tried to block with magic, but it failed. Soon a blade came into view and the skulls prevented me from getting closer. Then something swung, and blood as well as a scream filled the air. To be Continued in: Protection
