A collection of my thoughts and recounting of events whilst in the Zone.
Why I'm Agnostic
I've garnered some negativity on the part of people around me for my acts of questioning the existence of a god and the fact that I join no religious faction.

I am aiming to be able to answer a few questions that people ask and address some arguments some may have about an existing deity and origins.

First of all, here's a frequent misconception about agnostics: people believe that there is no difference between atheists (those who don't believe in a god) and agnostics (those who question a god's existence).

That is only in the treatment of these two belief systems in the different doctrines of religions.
Agnostics would rather not assume the existence or lack thereof when speaking of a deity.
Atheists assume that there is no god at all and that all religious scriptures are mere fantasy.

Same with atheists, agnostics also question scriptures, especially when religious people try to take these literally as a valid world-view.

We have different beliefs as individual agnostics about the origins of the universe: I myself see two possible origins of the universe and what created the matter that spawned the Big Bang.
One is that existence might be cyclical, like the law of conservation of energy, it cannot be created nor destroyed, the same might be true with space and time, and minuscule energy signals could have spawned matter over millennia.

Another is that the small and unstable ball of matter that created the Big Bang could have been created by a self-aware entity, but one that is not all powerful, most likely only a conscious energy, not an all powerful deity.
I am not ruling out the possibility of a creator, but I do not want to make any assumptions and follow any doctrine just because of inter-subjective consensus.

About the origin of LIFE and self-awareness, specifically here on Earth, there have been several hypotheses and theories suggesting that microorganisms might have been formed in comets and ended up here OR that through environmental circumstances and organic matter being sparked into life by intense pressures and heat from the constant bombardment the early Earth endured.

In any case, the truth is, I DON'T KNOW and I am not too interested in finding out if there is a god, personally.
But some agnostics do try to search for possible origins of space, time and energy.
I prefer to look at facts and evidence rather than "holy" scriptures.

In relation to Christian Biblical Doctrine, I would really rather not delve into this too much, because it just demotivates me to do so, even though it is within my limited capability.
But I will try to answer to some stuff nonetheless.

Here's what I noticed with most Christian people, especially with education camp instructors (those you call "teachers" wink and religious students.
Inconsistency.

There are these people who would see certain parts of the Bible as literal truth, like the story of creation in the book of Genesis, but when evidence strikes (like in this presentation which shows What Every Creationist Must DENY: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5nj587d5ies ), there are those who would rather not look and be proven wrong, and there are those who suddenly say that the Bible is symbolic and should be taken out of context.

Another is the tendency of schools to be biased in teaching information pertaining to theories that the teachers in fact KNOW oppose the creationist story.

Also, the story of Jesus Christ has been proven to be only a personification of solar activity, tracking the sun's movement in the sky over the course of a year, often described by ancient stories as a battle between light and dark; good and evil.

Jesus Christ's General Biographical Story:

Born of a Virgin on Dec. 25th.
Accompanied by Star in the East.
Followed by 3 Kings to Locate Jesus
Prodigal Child Teacher at 12.
Performed Miracles such as healing the sick, walking on water, raising the dead, etc.
Baptized by John the Baptist & Began Ministry at 30.
Accompanied by 12 Disciples.
Betrayed by Judas.
Crucified.
Dead for 3 Days.
Resurrected on Easter.

The virgin birth is in relation to the constellation Virgo. Virgo is Latin for virgin, and is also sometimes referenced to a house of bread, as the virgin woman envisioned holds a sheaf of wheat. Bethlehem literally means house of bread, so this is where the story of Christ's birth at Bethlehem was spawned.
The ancient glyph for Virgo was the altered "M" which is why Mary, mother of Jesus, Myrra, mother of Adonis, and Maya, mother of Buddha begin with the letter M, along with other virgin mothers of different myths.

The star in the east is Sirius, the brightest star in the night sky. On Dec. 25th, this aligns with the three brightest stars in Orion's Belt, which is still called today what it was back in ancient times, the Three Kings. These stars point to the direction of the sunrise on Dec. 25th "signaling the birth of the Savior, removing all darkness."

As the seasons pass and the days get shorter and colder, the sun seems to move further south, "the death of our Savior." On Dec. 22nd, the sun stops moving south for three days, and starts to move up one degree to the north on the 25th. On this three day pause, the sun resides under the Crux constellation.

This is where you get the story "Christ Crucified, Buried for 3 Days, Only to be Resurrected Again."

Though this is the case, the resurrection of Jesus is celebrated on Easter, the Spring Equinox as this is where the days are now longer than nights, "light overpowering darkness."

The 12 disciples symbolize the 12 months of the year, and the betrayal of Judas is symbolized by the beginning of winter (symbolizing the process of death) as winter begins on October or November.

With this kind of proof, and the myriad of other religions that follow this personification, it is not hard to believe that the Bible is merely that, a Bible, a collection of books and that there is no reason to follow any doctrine using it or any other book claiming to be holy.

This, among many other reasons, is why I question Christian belief. Even if there IS a god, I wouldn't certainly do anything to "appease" it as generations of circumstances, events and happenings have proven that it (if it existed) never really gave a flying ******** about anything that happens in the universe.

It's easier to maneuver around life when one can see things in black and white, this is what I do to learn, and I see religion as merely a colorful way to cover up subtle corruption amidst a sea of insincere "charity."

If there are any questions or arguments you might have, post them on the comments. I will be happy to address them as best I can.

Here's a question: Does saying "Evolution is just a theory and Creationism is fact." explain the viruses that evolve to withstand new vaccines and insects that evolve to adapt to new pesticides?

Nope, it doesn't... How unfortunate. biggrin
