Knowing Something's Wrong
As the rest of the DD began to mingle with the kitsunes, Xangord made sure that Rose never left her eyesight. Though many drinks were passed around, Xangord drank nothing stronger than apple cider.
The party was really starting to get going when Xangord suddenly felt VERY light headed. Stumbling over to a chair, Xangord forcibly lifted her head and looked at Nogard and Dragon.
"No..."
Lowering her head again, Xangord first gagged then threw up. [1]

Protection
When the red dragon had fallen on him, Skully had been temporarily knocked out. Coming to, Skully realized from the position of the moon that perhaps three hours had passed.
Grumbling, he shoved himself to his feet and climbed out of the small crater caused by Nogard. Spotting a familiar form once he was out of the hole, Skully walked over to it. "Hey, Dragon. ... Dragon! ... Dragon?"
Nudging Dragon with his foot, Skully expected her to lash out and knock his head off. When she did not move, Skully tilted his head in confusion. Since he was by her legs, Skully walked around Dragon until he came to her head. Grabbing a stick, Skully poked her again--surprised by the fact that Dragon still didn't move.
"I never thought I'd come for this one," someone said from behind Skully. "Not with the pact she forced me into..."
Spinning around, Skully faced what appeared to be a dragon skeleton. Exhibiting his psycho face [2], Skully asked, "Who the hell're you?!"
"I am the dragon God of Death, Sabre," the skeleton replied. "Tonight, I must draw Dragon's life."
Drawing his scythe, Skully said, "Over my dead body!"
Sabre looked at Skully.
"Right, right!" Skully said, "I know I'm already dead, but you know what I mean!"
"This is a matter of Dragons, not creatures such as yourself," Sabre said.
"No one's allowed to draw Dragon's life but me!" Skully replied. "She beat me once and I will get my revenge on her yet!"
Tilting his head, Sabre asked, "Would you attack her in her comatose, near death state?"
"Pffft, no!" Skully said. "That's cheating though it may give me tatical advantage... and I don't cheat!"
Regarding Skully for a moment, Sabre asked, "What is your name, creature?"
"I am known as The Skull King!" Skully said. "And I'm more than happy to add the skull of the Dragon God of Death to my collection!"
"That will not be necessary," Sabre said. "The pact that Dragon forced me into had included bringing no harm to her family--and she considers you part of her family. ... Although WHY she would is something I would like to know."
Relaxing a bit, Skully gave his psycho face again. Shaking his head, he said, "I'll still be taking your skull, cully."
"Not today," Sabre said, disappearing in a flash of black light.
"Damn," Skully said, staring at the spot where Sabre had been. Looking back at Dragon, Skully poked her with his scythe. "Comatose, huh? Well...better that than you being aware!"
Skully's ever present grin appeared to widen as he took Dragon to his castle. [3]

Amusement
Opening her eyes, Nogard was less than surprised to find herself bound in a straight jacket woven from the hairs of a water mammal dragon and encased in chains made from the scales of a water reptile dragon.
"You're awake," someone said. Nogard was not able to see who because her glasses had been removed.
"Obviously," Nogard said. "Does using my sister as hostage to capture me make you feel all powerful?"
"There was no other way to draw you out since your change," the stranger said. "Or so the other you said."
"And how is she doing?" Nogard asked. "The other me. Unfortunately, I can tell she's not dead since I feel no different than before. But she's certainly not feeling very well."
"Like you, she was borderline there for a while," the voice said. "But the fire within pulled you both through."
Nogard laughed. "Our survival has nothing to do with our element!"
"Oh?" the voice asked. "Then what?"
"None of your business," Nogard said. "Now. Are you to be my judge, jury, and executioner; or are you simply my torturer?"
"I am one of your jailers," the voice said. "Nothing more or less."
Nogard laughed. "Oh you're more than just a jailer, lunchmeat. Once I get free, you'll be just that--lunchmeat."
