Well I don't write in my journal often but I I wanted to see if any read any of these. so I wanted to post a question this time.
It's about high school relationships. I talk to a lot of high school students where I work and I notice a trend in people have two people that they date one male and one female. (I use the word "date" loosely. I see very few actual dates happing.)
I admit I am old fashioned, but it seems that this generation is fine with cheating. Lets look at the word cheating.
Pronunciation: ˈchēt
Function: verb
Etymology: 2cheat
Date: 1590
transitive verb
1 : to deprive of something valuable by the use of deceit or fraud
2 : to influence or lead by deceit, trick, or artifice
3 : to elude or thwart by or as if by outwitting <cheat death>
intransitive verb
1 a : to practice fraud or trickery b : to violate rules dishonestly <cheat at cards> <cheating on a test>
2 : to be sexually unfaithful —usually used with on <was cheating on his wife>
This is the Webster dictionary definition. I look at the first definition and wonder how so many students can dismiss seeing two people of opposite gender as not cheating. If you promise that you love and caire about some one and some one loves and cares about you don't you want 100% of their affection? Aren't people valuable? by having two and splitting your affection aren't you cheating them out of what they deserve, and if some one is "dating" you and some one else aren't you being cheated out of the attention that you deserve? People have a hard enough time with relationships when only tow people are involved will three people cause less drama? no logically it will be worse. I do believe in what is written in the Bible and there are may men that had multiple wives but it appears that in a lot of cases that would lead these men in to a ton of drama. by the time Jesus was on earth the Hebrew people had learned form history and had legle marriages between two people only. and that is how the law is set up in the USA as well. Why repeat history? I don't think we should do things that have already proven to not work. If any one reads this I like a commit on the topic let me know what you think.
