This was written for a girl whom I feel in love with and was horridly betrayed by
I lay here quietly on my bed
Memories swirling through my head
Birthdays, sleepovers, the day we met
Happy and sad times, my eyes grow wet
I loved you dearly, you were my best friend
Even though others told me this has to end
They said you were bad, that you would hurt me
But love is blind, I refused to see

You abused me, scarring my heart and soul
It took awhile for me to again become whole
What did you want? Why did you stay?
Was there some price I was supposed to pay?
You knocked me off my feet and let me fall
Didn’t seem to care when your name I called
Was I, to you, just a toy?
Your smile for me, beguiling and coy.
You left without warning
Left me here fumbling
Trying to reasssemble myself
Putting my days with you up on a shelf
It’s over, it’s done.
I learned my lesson.
Love is not a game.
You’ll never play with me again.
