In the morning, Mizuki woke up to find herself in the old tree house with Shinobu there, resting. They had a blanket and a pillow to share together so they seemed alright. She slowly got up, only to see that Shinobu was awake. "Ohayo*, Mizuki." He yawned.
Mizuki smiled. "Ohayo, Shinobu." She stood up to look out the window and saw that it was still early. She seemed so much better. "I'm sorry.. for making you wait so long for me. I'm so pathetic.." She sighed.
Shinobu came up behind her. "No, Mizuki. Don't say that."
"But it's true! I... I got scared with Miyako and Takeshi left. I thought you were next to leave me." She pouted.
Shinobu hugged her from behind. "But I never left you.. did I?"
She shook her head, "No..."
"And I never would leave you. No matter what." He said.
A moment of silence past between them as they watched the sun rise.
"Hey... How did you know when my memory came back?" Mizuki asked.
Shinobu lightened his hold on Mizuki. "...I was visited in my dream.. someone told me to go see you right away. Something good had happened." He said.
Mizuki smiled. "I guess it was my aunt.."
He nodded. "I suppose so. Well, since it's Sunday, is there amything you want to do?"
Mizuki turned her head to look at Shinobu and nodded slightly. "Yeah.. I want to see Miyako and Takeshi..."
"Alright. Let's meet up at the park this afternoon." He said, "I'll make sure they arrive. For now, I'll head home to freshen up. See you then."
Mizuki followed after him to get down from the tree and waved good bye to him. She was grateful to her late aunt. As he left, Mizuki snuck back into her bedroom, closing the window behind her. There was so much she had to explain...
AFTERNOON
As Mizuki went along by herself from home to get to the park, she was thinking of a lot of things. Her promise to Miyako to never forget her.. She had already broken that promise and forgot Miyako all along until today. She had even hurt Shinobu without realizing it when she went to school that time after a visit to her aunt. Mizuki looked up as she turned the corner and saw Miyako, Takeshi and Shinobu there. Her frown grew longer as she ran straight to them, aiming to Miyako. The three saw her coming and waved with a smile. As Mizuki came close, she tackle glomped Miyako, shedding tears all over again. "I'm sorry, Miyako! I won't ever, ever break a promise to you!" She cried.
Miyako seemed surprised as she slowly wrapped her arms around Mizuki. "Mizuki? Are you okay?" She asked.
Mizuki sniffled, catching a breath. "I.. I'm sorry.." She said.
Shinobu patted her on the back. "She asked me to gather you guys. She wants to tell us all something at once. So.. Give her time." He said.
Mizuki pulled away from Miyako, her eyes still a bit teary, but she stopped crying. "Thank you, Shinobu." She said, then looked at all three of them. She wiped her tears away and took a breath. "After Takeshi left, I went to my aunt for a favor." She started, explaining...
FLASHBACK
-Nine years ago. Age 7-
Mizuki had arrived at Aunt Hana's house, knocking on the door. Even though Aunt Hana was part of the Aichi family, she wasn't very often visited. So when she opened the door to be greeted by her young niece, she was surprised as Mizuki hugged her own. "Aunt Hana! Please! I have a favor of you!" She cried, letting her tears come out.
"Oh? Mizuki-chan, what brings you here? Come inside, child." Aunt Hana said, hugging her close and closing the door to her house. Mizuki sat in the living room while Aunt Hana was making some hot tea. Mizuki had calmed down for the time being.
"So.. What's this favor you have for me?" Hana asked as she sat down in her chair.
"Auntie.." Mizuki said, then looking up at her aunt, making eye contact. "Please, remove my memories of Takeshi, Shinobu and Miyako!" She bowed her head.
Hana was surprised. "Aren't they friends of yours?"
"They are.. but one by one, they are leaving me. I can't bear to lose all of them!"
"Mizuki-chan.. sometimes it's better to remember every experiences you have in life..."
"NO!" Mizuki blurted out, interrupting Hana. "I rather forget everything than experience the pain!"
Hana frowned. "Mizuki-chan..." She closed her eyes for a moment, thinking as she got up. "Then, let's make a deal."
"Anything." Mizuki was calm.
"I will take your memories, but I will not remove them. I believe that at least Shinobu will remain with you. If that is true, then eventually, Takeshi-kun and Miyako-chan will come back. When they do, I will come to you by any means to return your memories so your friends will not be hurt that you have forgotten them."
Mizuki looked at her aunt. She couldn't speak a work for a moment. Finally, she nodded. "Fine, but what if Shin-kun leaves me too?"
Hana shook her head. "He would never leave your side, Mizuki-chan." She said with a smile. "Trust me."
Mizuki nodded, closing her eyes. "Fine.. I accept the deal then."
At that, Hana was close enough, so she placed a hand on Mizuki's forehead and worked her magic. One by one, each of Mizuki's memories of the four of them had left her body. Before Mizuki had fallen asleep, she saw her aunt holding a white pearl. "Remember someday... This pearl is so pure because it is the core of your happiness.. Your memories..." she said, watching her niece fall asleep.
