it was not as bad as i thought it would be. after everything that has happened this summer having fifteen block parties, a park program and an understaffed police force. well i thought it would be a disaster. the parties are still going on as far as i know and there was some disturbance calls i saw as i walked home but as far as i know nothing disastrous.
it was very busy but a lot of "regulars" were at there own block party. some organization brought arts and crafts so i wound up in charge of the sign in book. yay! well the mayor came. the police stopped by, a fire truck and emt stopped and had food. the two firemen played checker and tether ball. they are not any better at it than the kids. oddly the basketball court and playground were kind of empty. i hide on the play ground for a bit. i did that two years ago when i would need a break.
i feel fried. it was so hot and loud, very, very loud. they had a DJ and it was blaring!
so as far as i know national night went as well as they wanted it. the mayor had the same shirt on i did, just not faded. someone handed out ice cream to the volunteers and i was missed as usual. *shrug* i am just happy it is over and that is something to not worry about.
my friend and volunteer's purse was snatched yesterday. should have mentioned that first maybe. it was snatched had her money and make up. the purse was left on the porch of a house half a block up. there were witnesses. it was the girl who attacked me. she lives on the corner a crossed the street from mine. i can see her house from my living room. the police knew right away who we were talking about. she is running wild and terrorizing the neighborhood and is 12.....
she needs to be held accountable and needs to have help.
so between what happened to my friend, me and the gang issue i do not feel safe. i feel panicky. so all the police around made it a better day.
of course on my way to the park i was stopped by a kid with a sighting of the girl. a mother who's daughters were attacked one who is 18 have been attacked by her. she came whirling in to the park with a sighting. the coordinator is getting tired of this. so am i but are reasons are different. well i guess maybe i will bring it up at the next security committee meeting. however no one listens. ah well.
i am just focusing on a busy but mellow park day i guess. oh i do not know i am rambling now....air conditioning is nice....
