My last entry was in '07.
This as pointless an entry as that was.
I am armed with a vial of glitter and an idea of how to use it. Oh, but I love plaster casting! I just need something to take a mould of, or some idea of what to carve into the plasticine, which is easier to think about rather than do. My first two attempts turned out all right, but they were simple--a flat chaosphere and a little heart-in-chains thingy which went well enough on a headband. I need more headbands.
I also need more tools. Thangs to carve into the mock-clay with, as currently I'm stuck using my Print class tools and my precious nails. And. Other things. Like chains, for chains, and random s**t for textures.
...
And ARGH.
What the hell am I going to take this year?! Photo, painting, print, ceramics, metal?
Photo is fun, but being alone in the dark room is hella unnerving. The lighting is creepy, and I keep thinking I'm going to see that chick from The Grudge hiding underneath one of the tables all ready and rearing to do whatever the hell it is that she does.
Painting is fun, too, but. Well. Okay, I don't epically suck at it unless I'm actually trying, or painting on canvas--which we're going to have to do in class. I hate canvas. All those little indents... Piss me off. Speaking of which, I need to upload my birdy painting and inquire around for help. I'm stuck. I keep forgetting.
Print. Print was... Okay. It wasn't as horrible as I thought it was going to be. The location of the print room was somewhat irritating, given that the campus is all spread out around town. That room got really ******** warm, though, and there are a lot of chemicals used for this-and-that. Like Photo, but it was necessary to wear gloves in Print.
Ceramics was totally awesome, but according to census before we left for the summer, I'd probably be the only one taking the class... Therefore, it wouldn't go. I heard that the teacher wasn't willing to hold classes for just one person, which is understandable.
Metal? Yesterday, a friend guessed I'd be going into Metal. Something about me being the type or something... Urrhurrhurr. No. Just. It was interesting and fun to make solid, metal sculptures, but the sawing! THE SAWING. Everything else was fine--I loved the torch, the sautering, the hammering, the colours the metal would turn, and even polishing them. But the sawing is a major turn off. The little thread-thin saws... Always getting stuck, always breaking and nearly impaling one of my fingers... And the precision needed to saw! Sawing curves and corners and--no, just... NO.
I wish I could take more than just two of these, I'd certainly take photo and painting and hope other people would take ceramics, but sadly...
... I've been weighing them all against each other cost-wise, of course. Photo would require a new camera, and that would cost near to over one thousand dollars, and then there's the memory card. Then to go into it professionally, I'd have to go out and buy yet another camera...
Painting--ha! I have watercolours, acrylics, oils, tempura, a shitload of paint brushes, linseed oil, brush cleaner, several canvases, gesso. I'd barely need to buy anything, and going into this professionally wouldn't be too difficult. Some of the equipment can be hand made, to boot!
Print would also not be too costly. We don't have to buy our own ink, and the tiles don't cost much. Neither do the tools, really... To carry it out professionally, there's a printhouse thing near one of the campuses. Get a membership there, and voila! Of course, I don't know much about printing. I could be ******** wrong.
Ceramics. Cheap, school-wise... Ten dollars for a bunch of clay; the teacher lends us the tools and supplies the glazes and kiln. Out side of school, however... I shudder at the thought! But my dad did point out I could substitute a barbecue for a kiln, and there are always fire firings. Open air firings? I forget what they're called.
Metal... Well... I don't know. But... No. Saws. NNNOOOOOOO.
...
Yeah, except I'm still undecided.
Choices sucking ******** tits.
Edit: Ololol.
Photo would be air, ceramics would be earth, painting would be water, metal would be metal. Printing would be fire, but I don't see how that works.
Western zodiac-wise, my element would be air--Photo. My favourite element is water, but my Chinese zodiac element is earth...
Ceramics or painting. Solved nothing, it's always been between those two. Figures. Buut, if we switch ceramics and printing, printing would be earth and ceramics would be fire (lolkilns). In which case, no brainer: painting.
Photo and painting. But ceramics is so funnn!
Damnit!
