Thoughts Ever So Blunt
These are my thoughts, and mine wholly,
True and honest, merciless and blunt.
Speaking of which, a word about being blunt.
Some say bluntness is uncaring; while others go on to describe it as cruel,
Yet they all fail to see that being blunt is being purely honest.
Only those who live off of the drama complicating the human experience, life,
See the good as disguised evil.
We were all born with cleansed hearts, free from hatred and love both,
But layers upon layers of developed emotions support our mind,
Setting the structure from which we grow upon.
If we are born without a pretense of these feelings, then how did we come to stumble upon them?
Is it nature that fascinates us, urging us to explore boundaries?
Or is there some superior being that plays with our mind?
You can believe what you want to, for that is one message that we all, even myself, cling to.
We want to believe that no matter the circumstance, we are in command.
But even this is a false statement.
There is so much we don’t know, so much we can’t dominate,
Not even our minds are purely controlled for even they wonder to places virtually unexpected.
No matter how much we deny it, there is a bit of hatred in everyone,
But we continue to twist its meaning.
The term is used so freely anymore sometimes it’s hard to tell what is from what’s not.
Because of this misunderstanding of the word, mistrust and feelings of insecurity have arisen in the mind.
So here at last I come to my original thoughts.
Society has mutilated us to the point of no return.
These deep-set emotions have wreaked havoc in my soul,
Making such desired passion such as a simple love into a chaotic mess.
Constant worry and relentless misery have clawed huge gaps in my essence.
Now that you know, don’t think I’m exaggerating, I have but one question.
Why do I stand through this, endure such great pain for one bit of happiness?
Because, to be blunt, I am programmed to hope.
*I wrote this in bitter anger*
