Kira's Story
Lost in this daze...
I forget my past,
The ones that I'd loved,
Everything of my life.
It has all seemed to dissapear now.
Only darkness surrounds me,
for what has seemed to be forever.
When will I be able to eskape from this?
Today maybe?
What about tomorrow?
Will I ever be able to leave this place?
Yes.
Yes, I must keep believeing in myself!
I will awaken from this!
Yes...awaken...
Chapter 1
Have I finally awaken? Have I finally eskaped from those chains of darkness?
Air rushes around me, along with sootheing familular, yet unfamilular sounds. I can finally feel something. My vision seems to slowly clear, making me able to make out details of this possibly new land. I can hear now too. Quietness surrounds me no longer. My sences have returned! But...
Where am I now?
Although lost, I smile.
I have finally awoken.
Shadows dance around me within the hovering pale light that drapes over me and the surrounding land.
I sit up from the hard floor, seeing mainly darkness except for the light that hovers over me, covering me in a pale and delicate light. A clear circle sets in the middle of the deep blue, white speckled sky. I seem to remember these some how, from some where. I have seen these before in my unknown past life. It is the Moon, and the stars.I seem to remember what things are, and what they mean. But the question is-
Who am I?
I wonder where I am at right now? Nothing here seems to look familular.
I think to myself as I study the surroundings.
I seemed to have some sort of nocternal sence. My vision began to quickly adjust to the darkness by the minute, letting me see more clearly.
I decided to lay back on the ground, and try to think of what to do. I mean, I have no clue where I might possibly be at. I cant remember anything. What should I do?
"Is there someone there?"
A teenage male voice interupts my troubled thoughts.
I looked behind me, startled and wide eyed from the sudden voice.
A tall darkened figure stood not too far from me, but was at too much of a distance for me to make out any details.
I bite my lip to stop myself from making a sound. I did not want to give myself away quite yet. The stranger could be dangerous.
I stood up, my legs shakeing weakly.
I hoped to eskape quietly, and maybe follow the stranger to some sort of civilization; but my plan didnt nessasarly work out like I wanted.
I fell back to the ground on to my stomach, making a loud crashing sound. Before I knew it, footsteps ran up to me.
A blinding light suddenly shined on to me like my own peirceing spotlight.
I looked into the light startled, and squinting.
I could barely make out the figure behind the light until he lowered it slightly.
The figure was tall, most likely somewhere around six foot. His face and body looked shaded and dark from the surrounding darkness, making it hard to make out small details.
His eyes seemed to stick out the most though. They were an ice like, and a saphire blue color. They were also glareing right at me, the moonlight reflecting into them, making them look like a unique and exquisit jewl. But his eyes didnt seem very warm and careing; they seemed cold and dangerous, and also filled with curiousity.
The other details I could make out was that he had charcoal, naturally straight hair that stretched down to about his shoulders. His bangs covered some of his face, making him look even more dangerous, and mysterious.
He was wearing a navy blue jacket, that was un-zipped and showing off his grey t-shirt that hugged his thin proportions. He also wore grey looking jeans with it, that were not tight, but not unattractably baggy either.
So yes, In a way he looked like a normal teenage guy. His speicies looked very familiuar to me. He looked human. But then I noticed something very unique, that I had never seen before, even in my past lifetime. Behind him flapped black, medium sized angel like wings.
I looked back into his eyes in shock of what I had just noticed about him. He still studied me throughly, then met my eyes again. I wanted to look away from him. His eyes were so cold, and uncomfotable, but yet, mesmerizeing in a way I could not describe. They would keep drawing you to them, to where you just couldnt seem to resist it.
"What are you doing here?"
His monotone voice snapped me out of my trance.
"I-I" I paused, stuttering. "I dont know!" I finnished quickly and nervously. I could hear myself talk in almost a whisper, which seemed surpriseing to me in a way. I had forgotten what my voice had sounded like.
"Miss, I think it would be best if I took you back to our village for now. You seem like you need a place to stay." He said, this time showing off a small smile with bearing fangs. I looked at him nervously as he lended out a hand to me.
Hesitantly, I grasped his hand, and pulled myself up with his help.
What did I have to lose? It would be better than spending the night here, lost and alone. Or atleast, I hoped I was chooseing the right path.
Chapter 2
The moments after that seemed long and awkward. It was silent, except for the sounds of the surrounding tree's and our light footsteps.
I had so many questions that I wanted to ask him, but I was unsure on how to start the conversation off. So, I decided to hold off till he decided to speak.
"So miss, where have you came from?" He looked over at me, studying me again.
"Once again...I guess I dont know. I have felt like I have been in a deep slumber for years, and I woke up there." I confessed. "I dont really remember much else. I know I was alive before that sleep. I remember small things, like the scenery and what the people of my world looked like. But..." I paused for a moment, thinking to myself. "I just dont remeber anything about me, and my life." I said, looking back into his eyes. A thought suddenly came over my mind; maybe it wasnt the best idea to tell someone all of that quite yet.
The guy looked at me with curious eyes, and astonishment. "I have never heard of something like that before; but I have also never seen anyone of your kind in my life time. Your kind used to survive in the past though, but not now, not for thousands of years. We still have people that may be descendants of you, though all they have are simple elemental powers. The vibe around you holds much more than something that small. I would like to take you to our leader, and see what he says if you do not mind. Oh! and I had forgotten to introduce myself, I am shiromu, but call me shiro for short." He replied, seeming more freindlier now, but I still wondered if I should trust him.
"Oh, ok." I paused. "What do you mean by me being different?" I asked with a glint of curiousity in my eyes.
"You do not know what you look like?"
"No..." I answered back.
"Uhhm..ok then, There is a pond not too far from here. I will let you go look at your reflection. I think you will realize why your different then." He replied, then looked forward through the forrest again.
I looked ahead also. There wasnt much of a path to follow, but it was noticable that people had traveled this way quite frequently.
Once again, A wave of discomfort came over me. It was an awkward silence again, the muffled sounds of our footsteps echoing along with the howling wind, and swaying tree's. It seemed calming in its own way, but that didnt take away the fact that I had no clue where I was and was walking with a complete stranger to his village. Yea, awkward.
"The pond is just to the right of this path." His low voice made me flinch as I snapped out of my deep thoughts.
Looking to the right, I could see the glare of the full moon off the pond through the dense tree's. We turned and headed towards it.
This spot seemed even more calming, and also romantic; except being there lost with a complete stranger kind of took away from that.
The pond glistened in the reflected moonlight. It happened to be a bright turquise blue color, and was clear enough to where you could see right down to the sandy bottom. The pond seemed calm as glass, as If you could just walk across it. It happened to be surrounded with soft, almost white sand then surrounded completely by dense tree's that seemed to form a canopy around it from there.
I couldnt help but smile as excitement rushed though me as I walked up to it. I would now get to know what I looked like in this lifetime.
A girl, most likely around five foot six or seven stared back at me with gleaming emerald green eyes. Dark brown, almost black bangs hung somewhat down her forehead, covering up some of her flawless pallid skin. Both sides of her face were framed with hair that stretched down to her chest, laying over it gently, and braded in with a thin green ribbon. The rest of her hair stretched down to just below her waist, and was perfectly smooth and straight. Her figure was small, and delicate looking, being draped over with a soft looking white dress that went down to her knee's. She wore no jewlry, makeup, or shoes. making her look plain, but in a good way. The one thing that was very different from me that Shiro, was thw snow white wings that flowed out from each side of my shoulder blade, draping with perfect layed out feathers till they reached my lower back in a point.
I smiled.
So this was me.
I looked away from my reflection, then back up at Shiro, who was glareing up at the moon.
I walked up to him with a slight smile. "Ok then, thank you for leading me here."
"He looked over at me as I smiled at him. "your welcome. You ready then? The village isnt very far from here."
"Sure, lets be on our way then."
I still wasnt that sure what to say after that. Another period of time lapsed on slowly. Shiro continued to look contently ahead while I looked at the ground, scrambling for things to say. I had so much to ask, but I couldnt seem to think of them through the thick awkwardness.
"Uhmm.." My mumble trailed off for a moment. "So, there are other species here then?"
He looked down first, his jaw seeming to tighten, and them looked back at me with his serious eyes. "Yes, however one species we will be at war with soon. The other species have split up between our groups."
"Oh. mm..what species are you going to war with?"
He looked at me again, his mouth open, as if going to speak, but there was a long hesitation. "Your possible descendants.." He mumbled quickly and nervously.
I felt myself freeze for a moment, and a thousand more thoughts poured into my mind.
oh god, was I on the right side?
Is the guy that I am walking with evil or good?
Is there an evil or good side?
What reasons are they fighting for anyways?
Are my (possible) descenadants evil? Or was my species once evil?
The list went on, but I tried to stop thinking.
"Ah, here we are." He mumbled again, making me look up ahead of me.
There was a large village there, lights glimmering in every house and along the dirt path through the village. I could hear people talking loudly ahead, then began to see them. There were thousands. As we walked closer, I began to see how far this village stretched, in which I guessed two or three miles out. The entrance to the village, or atleast the intrance we took, happened to be on a steep hill, so at the top, I could see many flickering lights out through the land. Everything seemed to stick out in contrast to the darkness for me. Many of the houses, and bussinesses I noticed were on tree's. They seemed like advanced forts, yet there were many other buildings crammed together on the ground too. As we walked in through the town people began to notice me, and I began to notice a simularity with all of them. Black wings, dark-like hair, bright, glowing eyes.
I wondered to myself if I was attracting all the attention because of my eye-catching wings.
Thats when I heard a couple sharp whistles go off from a pack of people beside one of the buildings. They were all staring at me with large grins. I looked down in embarassment, sense that only seemed to attract more attention to me. I moved closer to Shiro. He laughed at me.
"You sure do attract a lot of attention. Your wings stick out very well. Not to mention your proportions and looks are pretty much perfect. Mmm. Thats just another sign that your from the past."
Past? How could I be from the past anyways? I dont even recognize any of this. This looks more like something I would have studied, like a renaissance age, maybe just more advance. Who and what was I?!
I continued studying the surroundings, and seen a large, three story looking building ahead in logg-cabin style.
"This is where our leader is at."
I nodded.
"Ah, Shiro, how are you tonight.?" A guy, probably in is late twenties or early thirties spoke to Shiro, then directed his attention over to me. His eyes lit up. "Woa, what you have here? She looks like-"
"Yes, yes mikaio, I know."
He continued watching me astonished as I walked through the wooden doors with Shiro. The entrance opened up into a large lobby. A hall led off to the front, and to the right. There was also a stair case on both side, with decorative railing leading up stairs. The inside also held the logg-cabin look, elegant and oriental.
We walked up to the front desk. There was a women there, probably also in her early thirties or so. She looked up at Shiro, and mumbled that we could go see the boss, and that she would let him know. She then took a double take, and looked up at me, jumping slightly, a gasp escaped from her lips, and she looked back to Shiro with wide eyes. Shiro nodded, then grabbed my hand, pulling me towards the right decorative staircase. We made it down the stairs, turned left, then right again through the hallways, then made it to a large iron door. Shiro knocked.
"Come in, come in Shiro!" A voice yelled in muffeled excitment through the iron. I heard footsteps come towards the door as Shiro opened. We were imediatly greeted with wide eyes by there fifty year old looking leader. Her had charcoal grey hair, with lines of grey running through it, along with the large black wings, and bright emerald eyes. He war a grey and black suit, which fit his stout figure, making him look even more proffesional.
His eyes imediatly met mine, in which made me jump. To my surprise his eyes were even more brighter and hypnotizing than Shiro's.
"Ah, come in, come in." He gestured with his hands, and led us over to his heavy oak desk, however did not for a moment take his eyes off me, which made me even less comfortable.
"Where did you find her Shiro?" His hand stretched out for my face, and brushed lightly against the side of my cheek, when I imediatly jerked away. His touch was rough, and cold, yet it almost seemed to burn me. I automatically didnt feel comfortable with him, treating me like a new item, or a new discovery-which I might have been, but still. I was still a living thing.
"I found her about twenty-thirty minutes out past the pond. She was just laying on the ground randomly in an opening. I felt like someone was there, so I yelled, and she made noise. I figured that you would definetly want to see her."
He smiled, still not taking his eyes away from me. I felt sufficated, and nervous. I wanted to run away and leave. It didnt feel right around him, or around here. However, I was growing slightly more comfortable with Shiro. He still seemed nice, but I didnt nearly know him long enough to know that he was safe.
"Yes, yes. Thank you. You have to be one of our best guardians." He smiled, directed his eyes to Shiro for about a second then back at me, where he struck his hand towards me again. I automatically jerked, and stood up invoulentarly. For some reason I could feel a grown erupt deep in my throat.
I felt Shiro's hand grab mine. He seemed to gare at me for a moment, then yanked on my arm, motioning for me to sit back down, which I obeyed. The leader's smile had faded into a low frown. His eyes ran over me, studing me. I really wanted to run now.
"I see that she is unaware of everything, and seems to be a little rebellious. Mmm..just like her kind."
I glowered at him, holding off my growl, and urge to take off running into the fresh, unfamilular air.
"What is going on?" I said firmly.
The leader glanced down for a moment, then back up at me.
"Put her in the dungeon for tonight; the nice dungeon. Dont let her run away." He smiled. Instincts finally kicked in, and my wings spread out, not that there was anywhere to fly. I was already out of my seat, out the door, through the lobby. The exit..the exit...damn. I was jerked back, one hand on my left arm, the other on my wing, which stunned me for a moment, making a small pitiful wine escape my mouth. I was thrown to the ground backwards, the person still holding on to my wing. I felt tears come to my eyes from the sharp pain, but shook it off. I then realized my eyes closed on their own, and reopened them to the sight of Shiro, who had a few bright white feathers grasped in his hand. His breathing was slightly more heavier. His frown turned to an ignorant smirk which imediatly provoked me into challengeing him again. But as soon as I jumped up I was grabbed from the root of the other wing. Following was a hard slam that struck right between my wings, sending pain reviting down throughout my body, leaving me stunned, and in agony. I dropped to the ground, my eyes closed again and wet with tears from the sudden pain. I couldnt open my eyes, and I figured I was in light unconsciousness, considering I could still hear everything that was going on. I felt my body lift up, cradled gently within arms, who I guessed belonged to Shiro. I felt my eyes open slightly. All I seen was a blurred version of Shiro's pale face, his saphire eyes staring down at me in regret, but held firmness. Everything went black.
Chapter 3
I woke up on a comfortable bed, to my surprise, covered in a couple blankets, with only a dim light on in the corner of the bleak cell. The light shined off of familular blue eyes, who were staring at me. I groaned as I stretched out, the pain in back pretty much faded, however still there. My eyes closed and reopened to Shiro again, who was still sitting in the chair, the light beside him shining in his eyes, making them brighter than usual. My eyes traveled around the room, tracing every detail. The carpet looked grey, with loose lace, the walls were a deep blue color. There was a desk by the light, along with a small dresser beside my bed. I yawned, debating what to do or say next. I looked ahead, seeing the grey iron bars caging me in. I sighed, and sat up, groaning lightly again, then looked back at Shiro.
"Sorry." He mumbled, as I recalled last night. I let my wings fan out against the wall behind me.
"Tell me what the hell is going on." I looked at him firmly, demanding the answer again. He didnt say anything for a moment.
"Were not quite sure, we have no idea where you came from. However there used to be your type of species long ago. They were angels, but not the stariotypical ones. They had dark sides, too. They all had bright white wings, sometimes a rebellious streak, and the idea that they could do whatever they well wanted to. They were the most powerful, well at the time. No one knew how to destroy them. However, they all started dyeing off randomly one day. May have been desease, or perhaps something we have yet to understand. We still are left with that mystery. Then you showed up. You carry the same traits, however your looks are a little too close to one of the angels. She was their leader."
"Leader?!" I laughed. "You really dont think that I am her, right? I mean, I dont recognize any of this, this time I mean. I...feel like I remember a different time. I recognize things, though I do not know who I am. You guys are somewhat less advanced than the planet I remember. But I still dont know what happened, why I am here, what I am, or how I got to be this way. I mean, I dont recognize this form at all."
Shiro was quiet for a moment, thinking. "Well, It was rumored that the angels could ransport to different worlds, or time era's. that could have had something to do with their deaths too. But either way, they were rumored to hold unbleivable mafic, had imortality, though could feel pain, and also perfection as to their features, and were very stealthy. They were good people though, usually. They helped protect this world, and its people. Although some hated them. But either way, they were pretty much guardians to this world, and there was around seventy of them."
Thoughts crossed my mind. Ok. I probably lived in another world. I think I was sorta like this, but without the wings, and perfection, and stuff. Life was much more advanced, so I was in the furture. I looked like the leader guardian of my kind. And now I somehow ended up here. So what had happened to me before I was here? Am I related to one of the guardians? Who was I anyways?
I sighed. There were too many unanswered questions.
"Ok, so why am I locked up in here? and why are you in here anyways?
"Becuase, the leader wants to learn more about you, and try to figure you out. and he left me here to guard you, considering Im one of his top guardians, and we are unsure of what powers you hold. "
I gared at him.
"Let me out."
"No."
I glared again. "Let me out!' My voice picked up.
"LET ME OUT OF HERE BEFORE I KILL YOU!!!" Anger had gripped me again, and I stood up, running for the iron bars in pure fury and rage. I was caught by Shiro who held me tightly in his arms, even through all of my squirming, and yelling. I finally surrendered, and felt myself break down from all of the confusion, and fear. He kept me in his arms, though not to hold me down. Even through my breakdown, I understood he was trying to be comforting. I could feel him begin to stoke my hair. I felt like a baby, a stupid crybaby. But I couldnt seem to stop crying. My head hurt so much. Just kept pounding..and pounding...and pounding....
"Are they gonna do creepy experiments on me?" I cried through sobbs, the heard Shiro break out in a burst of laughter.
"No, no, dont worry. Were demons, but were not that inhumane. Besides, the boss just wants to keep you for a bit. Im sorry If I made that sound bad, but we are just as interested in your mystery as you are." I looked up at him, releif flowing over me for some reason. He said for a bit. I would be free soon, right?
I noticed he was smiling down at me, still pretty much cradleing me within his arms. I smiled back. He was the only one here so far who has been nice, and told me what they knew was going on. I continued staring at him.
I couldnt escape the fact that he was actually quite cute. The pale skin, in contrast to the raven hair that matched his wings, and the bright blue saphire eyes, thin, yet muscular figure. I blushed after coming into realiization. I was beggining to like him. I shifted, still blushing, and moved from his arms.
"Mmm..you prolly' would like something to eat, wouldnt you?"
Oh yea. Forgot completly about my hunger. I nodded with another shy smile.
Shiro smiled back, and stood up. "I shall be right back then." The iron bars slid back. I had the urge to run towards them, and try to make a break for it again, but I resisted. I would obey. For now. The Iron doors slammed shut with a rusty screetch, and Shiro dissapeared into the dimly lit hallway from the cell. I sighed, and stumbled my way over to the small bed. I fell over with my eyes closed, sprawling out, and trying to let go of everything bothering me-which was about everything at that moment. My thoughts drifted off into a serine quitness, that couldnt be penetrated. I was alone, but I was finally relaxed, and embraced within my dreams.
It didnt take long for that peacefullness to dissapear however. Footsteps gradually walked towards the door. The door screeched open, then slam shut. My eyes opened slowly, and I turned my head, expecting to see Shiro. To my surprise, it wasnt.
Someone unfamilular to me set the rusted tray with food next to me, then sat at the edge of the bed. I sat up then stared at him for a moment.
He stared back, not saying a word, only throughly studying me. I looked away, feeling awkward, then down at the tray. Stale looking white bread lay on it, along with an apple, and a small bowl with a cover over it. Clear water filled a tall glass, which had a spoon next to it, which I guessed was for whatever was in the bowl. The food didnt look appetizing at all however; even if I was starving. I looked back up at the guy, who happened to be still watching me contently.
"Who are you?" My words came out low and firm. I was feeling angery and insecure again. I wanted someone familular to be here again.
The man did not speak for a moment, only brushed back his raven hair from the middle of his glasses, and moved it to the side of his face. His eyes were a green-blue color. They were hipnotizing also. He had pale skin, which also looked nice in contrast to his black hair. He reminded me somewhat of Shiro, but around age thirty or so. He was wearing dark jeans and a hunter green shirt with a black vest over it. I frowned at him then sighed when there was still no answer.
"Im a proffesor here." He finally spoke. "I study things like you."
"Things?" I mumbled under my breath. They apparently didnt see me as a person yet.
"I was sent here to meet you, and see if we can figure out some more things. Shiro should be back pretty soon too."
"Ok." I mumbled. At least they were going to try to help some.
"Do you remember anything of your, possibly past life. How the world used to be, your friends or family, anything about you?"
I thought for a moment. "I dont remember anything about me, or my family; but I know for sure that I lived...somewhere else. It was more advanced there than this. The technology and stuff I mean. The people...didnt have wings or anything. I dont really know anything else.."
"Mmm..thats interesting. And then you woke up here.....so somehow you are connected with this place. Perhaps one of your ancestors..or maybe...." He paused, and looked up as the door came open again. Shiro entered, and they glared at eachother in silence, however the air took a tense turn.
Shiro glowered at him sharply. "Why the hell are you here?"
The proffesor stood up. "I was sent here. and I guess I will be leaveing now.." He glowered back, then slammed the door.
Shiro turned back to me with the same look. "What did you tell him?"
I jumped at his words. "I just answered his questions...i told him as much as you guys know..."
