The Fire Rose Part One
Gigi is not your typical 16 year old high school student. She has the brightest red hair and unnatural gifts as well as her natural ones. Gigi loved dragons and always had a love for fire. Her singing voice was strong in volume as it was in its power to put any guy into a trance. She was born, baptized, and confirmed as a Catholic and has a very strong faith. It is her talents and her faith that changed her life forever. Gigi attended a private Catholic high school. She had a few good friends and many acquaintances. The school is run by a order of Dominican nuns. She loved the nuns and got along with them really well. The nuns took her in when she became a orphan when she was 10 due to a plane crash of which her parents were in. She lived the life that would be similar to a novice nun even though she has not found out yet what God wants from her. It wasn't until the beginning of the summer after 10th grade that something happened that would change her life's direction. She had been out shopping, looking for certain socks since her last ones wore out. She was merely looking around the store when she bumped into this huge, tall, skinny, young man. He scared the wits out of Gigi. Gigi was so shocked and scared that she just froze where she was, which was on the floor since she had fallen over while the young man didn't even flinch. Gigi could feel her skin burn where her skin and touched his. His skin was burning hot and his hair was a deep red that went down to his knees. He wore gloves and leather jacket and pants. It was that thought that brought her out of her froze position. "Sir, are you okay? Do you have a fever? Your skin is scorching hot." " Yes, I'm fine. Thank you. I have naturally hot skin." He then handed his gloved hand to her which she accepted. " I'm sorry that I ran into you. I really should look where I'm going." " It's okay. Nobody got hurt." He gently smiled, " Do you need any help with anything? Oh, by the way, my name is Abraham." "My name is Gigi. I'm looking to buy a pair of socks. Have you seen any white stockings anywhere? I can't find any in this store." " Yeah. They are hidden behind the tan ones." He grabs them for her from the rack beside him and hands them to her.
" Thanks," she says with a slight blush. She is a little bashful around men but tries not to show it. " Well... I think this is where we part ways. So... Bye." "Bye." Gigi went to the registers but when she got there she looked back. Abraham was not where to be seen. That weekend she saw him sitting in the way back part of the church. He was sitting alone. Gigi felt that she should sit with him but she couldn't move because she was in the middle of the row between the nuns. So then she decided to talk to him after mass. But when mass was over he was nowhere to me seen. She even ran outside to look for him. It wasn't until she had to go to the Farmer's Market that she saw him again. She saw him walk out of a house across the street. She called his name and waved to him. He then walked over to her. "Long time no see," he said with a small smile. Even though he scares her a little bit she thought he looked handsome except that his unkept hair kind of ruined the image. " Did you just get up for the day?" " Yeah. So... what are you doing here?" " I'm getting some ingredients for a recipe that I need to bake a special cake for one of the Sisters because it is her birthday tomorrow."
"Oh... What kind of cake are you baking?"
" Her favorite: Carrot cake with my homemade frosting." " That sounds good but my favorite is chocolate cake. That is making me hungry. I best be off to get something to eat." He waved," Bye." Then turned around and started walking off. " Wait, Abraham." He turned. "Why don't you join me and the Sisters for lunch. It will only be a few minutes from now." " Thanks but..." " The Sisters would like to meet you. I have told them much of our first meeting." His face took on a face of shock for merely a second before it went into its usually indifferent expression that he usually carried. " I really don't think that is a good idea. Maybe some other time. I must be going now. Bye." He then took off and didn't leave her anytime to talk back. Gigi thought that was really weird. So, she got what she needed and went back to the convent with her head filled with questions about him. One day while she was reading about Moses and the burning bush in her room she didn't realize that her chair had caught on fire until she started to smell the smoke. It fire wasn't all that bad but it still damaged the chair and she had to get another one. She had no clue as to how it caught on fire. The same thing happened when she read about a house fire in the newspaper. And again when she heard about it on the news. And again when she thought about it and how much trouble it was causing her. It wasn't until she got angry that she realized that her thoughts were the one causing all the fires that happened to the chairs in the convent. So, with that knowledge she tried mediative prayer to help her control her fiery gift. The mediation worked but also with that mediation God helped her realize that she was also telepathic. She starting getting some of the Sisters' thoughts in her head while she was mediating and when she looked them straight in the eye. But the way that she saw their thoughts was that in the form of pictures and photos of words, like that written down on paper. She learned to control her gift of fire but not that of telepathy very well. It wasn't something that she could control. There was one time that she lost control once of her fire ability that her clothes caught of fire while she was in the shower. She then had to convert all her clothes from cotton material to wool that she knitted so well that it became fireproof, like some of the ancient people figured out how to do. She never told the Sisters but one for fear of being thrown out due to her abilities. When it got out to the other Sisters, they made her make a vow before God, which she did willingly, of only using her power for the good of others. She made a bracelet out of braided color wool,to wear always, to remind her of that vow of which she took. One thing that Sister Mary Celia said that she must learn now that she control over her gifts, that she must learn to use her abilities to guard her mind, heart, and soul with God's help, of course. One day while she was mediating on defense of her mind, heart, and soul, she sense that something was wrong. She got out of her mediation and went outside to where she was sensing the trouble. A house was burning down the street and Gigi ran over there to as close as she could without being seen. She used her control over fire to calm the fire and made it easier and faster for the firefighters to kill the fire. While she concentrated on the fire, her hair went up and looked like it was fire, her eyes glowed their gold glow, and her skin shone. Which she is why she was hidden, so the public won't know of her. That night the fire was all over the news. They kept saying how mysterious it was of the fire that within an instant it calmed down and went out. It was as though something other the firefighters had intervened that night. Once the Sisters knew this they knew it had been Gigi that had put out the fire. They praised her on her good work. That, though, she got a bad headache and sleep for hours the next day. The day after that she felt rested and fine. God told her while she was dreaming that she would get a headache like that when she used her power for something that was beyond the level of skill that she was at. She would have to work at gaining for strength do more stuff like house-fires.
