And tell me I am wrong.
My days off seem to go faster, lately. Didn't get a whole lot done on the project, whcih kind of bugs me. But, i have over 6 months to get it done, so I'm not too upset about it. It's not like anyone is clamoring for pictures or updates anyways.
Seems like my mom is going to be fine. That's a bit of a releif. Any good news at this point is appreciated, since I found out that my company is getting rid of people after the new year. I was worried about losing my job, but it seems like they're just losing three night shift people, and one day shift. I'm most likely getting moved to night shift, pulling four ten hour days. I'll deal and adjust, as always.
In gaming news, I've picked up and beaten Stubbs the zombie. It's a great game, but painfully short. I beat it in one sitting. However, aside from that and some zombie control issues, it's a ******** great game. Genuinely funny, good story, and highly entertaining. Fear my zombie hordes, you non-dead bastards.
Choice quotes: "Oh god, there's teeth in my pretty little skull!" and "You're eating my soul!" or "Aww, he done stuck me with a gree-nadey."
The soundtrack is great. Breathing new life into classics fromt he 40's and 50's with bands like Death Cab for Cutie and Cake.
Also picked up Hitman: contacts. The fourth in the hitman series. Way back in the day, I whiled away time with the first one. By now they've fixed most of the issues I had with the game, and it's been good fun to play through so far. Havn't gotten really frustrated with any of the missions yet, although some have required about six tries. sad
I briefly owned and played the new Dragon quest game. I didn't like it. Boss battles were a pain in the a**, the characters were limited, and skill allocation seemed silly and arbitrary. The demo for FF12 was quite fun, though. I rather enjoyed the new combat system, and can't wait for that to finally ship. I'm still in the mind that FFX was the best in the series, though. Sorry, I'm not a rocking FF7 fanboy, even though that does rank a close second in terms of "best final fantasy".
Radiata stories has been much more endearing, so that's going to be my RPG of choice. Still need to finish Shadow Hearts 2, as well. Oh, and Castlevania. I've actually got a pretty full gamer plate.
Beat Need For Speed: Most wanted. Finally, a nice blend of the Underground series playstyle with cops chasing your speeding a**. smile Now, if only they were'nt such ******** teases with the cars. Sorry, but if you're including a 1967 Camaro, I'd damn well better be able to drive, paint, and upgrade the beast in career mode. Sadly, it's only available in the "quick race" section. Why don't they just have a good underground/most wanted game with a healthy selection of classic muscle cars? That could be my very favorite racing game ever. pirate I'm just sick of racing exotics, and I need some Smokey and the Bandit or Dukes of Hazzard goodness in my racing games. Hell, I'd even settle for races akin to the final race in The Fast and the Furious. (which the charger should have totally won, btw. Sorry, a 600hp charger with enough power to make the car leap off the ******** road on take off should beat the s**t out of a tuned Supra. Still, they had to run that thing with 2 nitrous shots just to beat it, so ha! Classic muscle for the win.)
On the mod front, I've looked and it's going to take roughly 11 weeks to finish thsi sucker up. One of the longest projects I've ever done. I'm still quiteexcited to do it, too. So, woo. Go me. I'ms till trying to figure out how I'm going to attach the LCD. I can go with it embedded in the front panel, where the floppy drive usually sits, or I can go for a top mounting, with a swivel function so it can fold down and out of the way when not in use, and be folded up and swiveled to the proper angle for viewing when needed. Top mounting is easier, although i'd hvae to run a channel/stalth bit across the top so I can hide the cables. A length of PVC pipe, cut in half and painted would work well..
The big hudle, though.. Is figuring out the power issue. It requires an external power brick. Now, if it's mounted internally, that's going to be a bit of a pain to rewire and setup so that it can be plugged in with a minimum of fuss. It's much easier to do a top mount, but it's not as slick. Choices, choices. Feel free to frop your 2c in here about it. wink
Picked up Sin City: Volume 4. (Actually, I picked up v3, but was a blind fool, and got the spanish edition, so I had to return it, and they didnt have any copies in english. So, no "Big Fat Kill" for me until they get a new shipment in. sad )
Also, started a new series called "Y: The Last Man". It's very, very good. It's no transmet, but it's along the lines of Preacher in terms of quality, which is saying soemthing, since preacher was the series that got me back into Graphic Novels. It's genuinely funny, and an interesting plot about the death of every man on earth save for one. One man, and a planet full of women. And it's not even a masturbatorial fantasy. Try telling the one-breasted, man hating amazon that, and they'd castrate you. I look forward to reading the rest of the series as time and money permit.
As far as money goes, after christmas is all said and done, I'm going to be saving money like a mad b*****d. I've got to cover car repairs, a dentist bill, and my trip to AX 06, so I'm going to be very thrifty, very soon. My gaming, upgrade, and general "buy new s**t" budget is going to be closer to zero for quite some time. Oh well. smile
My friend reminded me of the best goddamn toast ever the other day, and I'm going to share it wth you, loyal reader:
"Here's to you and me, friends forever we shall be. But, should we ever disagree.. well then ******** you, here's to me."
I love that toast. He even said it to me on my birthday. I'm blabbering now, so i'm leaving with a link to what I did this morning.
