Your religion may dictate your view for or against abortion, but in reality it has nothing to do with it except your motives for being opinionated. So if you post here, keep in mind, religion must be separated from law. Your motives for abortion being illegal must be lawful, not religious. This is a law & science related discussion. NOT A RELIGIOUS DISCUSSION.
And if anyone is curious, yes, I am a non-denominational Christian.
TL;DR WARNING: DON'T POST IF YOU DON'T READ.
Debate upon this:
Premise One: Individuals own their bodies, and everything that is growing within them.
Premise Two: Fetuses grow within the bodies of their mothers.
Conclusion One: Females own their fetuses.
Premise Three: Individuals may destroy that which they own.
Premise Four: Females own their fetuses.
Conclusion Two: Females may destroy their fetuses.
This states basically everything true.
Yes, the male donates the sperm. But, the sperm is nothing unless combined with a woman's eggs. Combined with a woman's eggs, sperm is nothing unless fertilized in a woman's womb.
So, with the theory that a woman should have the right to do what she wants with her body, because she owns it, then a woman should have the right to have an abortion, no matter what the reason.
Also, you can not compare a baby in the womb to a human. A baby in the womb does not have feelings, emotions, and a brain as acute as a child. They are helpless when born.
Having abortions would cut down the chances of child abuse and child abandonment. If you are forced to have your child you know you won't keep and will just dump on the front step of a fire department, why be forced to have that child?
A female forced to have a baby by law, is the equivalent of a slave forced to work on a farm by law.
