So, I just started Beta testing 12 Skies 2 or something like that... Anyways, after taking 2 hours to install the bloody game, I was introduced to some crazy kick a** mind blowing intro scene. I'm a huge fan of Dynasty Warriors, and this pretty much looked like a Dynasty Warrior MMO. It looked so good. Then I entered the game. Alright, I know Beta testers are supposed to search for bugs, but I just couldnt bear it. Unlike most MMOs where they drop you in a nice, quiet place with a few starter quests to get used to, 12 Skies drops you into your factions main town, smack dab in the middle of the "Shopping Center" where any noob can set up a shop and sell any s**t they find at huge, dispropotionate prices. So, they throw you into a damn werlwind of spam and shops clouding your eyes. So what do I do? I go "******** this" and my hands move to the WASD controls. What happens? I end up opening "World Map", Panning my Camera, and Opening my Skill tree. Thats right. The world looks like Dynasty Warriors and WoW had a kid, but it was born as a horribly deformed Diablo 2 system. So, as I clumsily walk to the first quest giver by clicking over my shoulder (Clicking on your character does nothing) in a zig zag motion. I look around to see if I'm doing it right. And I see the same thing. Hundreds of people zig zagging across the street to get to other shops and such. And yes, I went into options. All the options contained was "Turn off this horrible pseudo Japamerican music, fiddle with graphics" and thats about it. So, I did some quests, which gave you a tour of the tightly packed, overwhelmingly filled city of Feudal Japan, where everyone is standing around doing NOTHING. Finally, I get to my first combat quest. At least in WoW, you had a sense of ackomplishment when you fought. You felt like you had control. In 12skies, you just sat there clicking like Diablo. But Diablo did it well. Oh, did I forget to mention? Diablo was a sort of 2nd person view, top down game. That means the camera stays in one position and pans up and down, left and right to watch you. There's no Camera screw ups, cause there isnt much of a camera. And that was good. 12skies puts you in a Diablo like game with a 3rd person camera that will stay fixed in one position unless you move it with A and D. Running away, you gotta pan the camera behind you, and click like an idiot. But then, though, you're dead. This really seems like a step back for MMOs, not a step forward. Deep down, I wanna keep playing the game for its Dynasty Warriors feel, but the game itself is just unbarable. You of course, can zoom out, rather than looking over your shoulder, but as you do, the game decides to downgrade the sprites. So here's the trade off. You can play with the horrible controls, but experience a not too shabby world, or you can zoom out and play some Runescape. Take your pick, as both choices will make you hurt inside. At this very moment, I'm uninstalling this god awful game, but I'm saving the intro video. I had my hopes up so much to be a ninja....
