Okay, so what have I learned from my past three years in college? Straight Answer: Complete and utter disappointment.
Back when I was in high school, college was something I was stupid enough to believe would teach me everything I wanted to know about my field of study, stuff that would actually seem useful. These past three years have proved otherwise. With requirements forcing students to shell out money for classes unnecessary for their field, professors that either can't teach well or simply act like the stereotypical snobs all professors are unfairly depicted as in media, I continue to wonder where the hell I got the idea I'd like college if I didn't like high school.
Look at it this way: You either liked school or you didn't. If you liked high school, that's no guarantee that you'll like college. On the flipside, if you didn't like high school, there's no way in hell you'd like college. Most failures in college occur because high school students fall for the over-inflated reputation of college relayed to them from high school staff to college representatives and even their parents (Yes, parents are just as if not even more guilty of this act than other suspect parties). Once the high school student becomes a college student, his expectations of college are at so high a level that his disappointment with the reality of college education is nothing short of guaranteed.
It's amazing how one can view a college diploma as "The one thing I need to jump-start my career" to "A piece of paper that society has over-glorified to the status of a god", and to me, that is exactly what a diploma is--a pagan god worshiped by an irrational world society ruled by passion and not reason.
Okay, that's enough angsting. Now it is time to see how many peeps Erica Hartmann will end up "Kancho!!!"ing. XD + o.O;
