Chapter 1- Discovery

Life had suddenly gotten very strange for him. After fighting in not one, but two secret wars, then finding out his true identity, his purpose in life, it was all so confusing. He made his way soaring on the thermals over the field to the southern forest.
Will I find my answers? He wondered as he drew nearer. The two-hour limit ticked away in his mind, slowly but always too quickly. Finally he reached the trees and pulled back his wings in a dive, tiny feathers in his tail making every small adjustment, keeping him from falling to the ground. As he broke through the trees, he found he had miscalculated his dive and still had a bit of a ways to go. He spread his wings, straining against the wind around him, and flew zoomed through the trees until he reached a clearing. The Forest Temple lay in one direction, a seemingly bottomless pit right next to it. He flapped over the empty space, through a tunnel, and finally to the entrance to another part of the woods, the Sacred Grove. Or as a friend had called it, the Lost Woods. Knowing his time was almost up, he focused. And he changed. His bones solidified, and his feathers melted together into his skin. His beak softened and flattened into his nose and mouth, his eyesight becoming dimmer. His talons ran together like hot wax and softened into his toes, and he grew. His wings became arms, and throughout the process he could hear his insides shifting, growing, nothing ever painful though. His tail feathers sucked into his spine, and the transformation was complete. The red-tailed hawk had become human through his power to morph into any animal he touched.
“Alright,” he said to no one. “Time to find the Temple.” Though there were quite a few temples around the land, he wanted one in particular. He walked through the Sacred Grove, the pine needles, leaves, and dirt soft under his bare feet. He’d been through the Grove twice already, so he was pretty sure of his way around. He could hear the soft sound of a melody on the winds. He stopped, listening for it.
“I’ve never heard that before,” he said to himself. “Hello? Anyone there?” It wasn’t the Skull Kid’s horn; it sounded like his friend’s Ocarina. The song repeated but never got old, and suddenly he saw an area in the forest, surrounded by crumbling stone walls. Above him was the entrance to something, but he didn’t know what. He saw a point, a pedestal or something, in the center. The mark of the Triforce was on it, and in the center of it a design of four curves swirling around a center point. Sitting on a stump nearby the entrance was a young green-haired girl in dark green clothes playing an ocarina. Who was she? Where were they? How’d he get there?
“Uh… hi. Who are you?” he asked. But as soon as he finished his sentence he found himself back in the Sacred Grove. He shook his head and continued on.
“Finally!” He emerged into a clearing surrounded by the ruins of the Temple of Time- the place that guarded the entrance to the Sacred Realm, where the Temple of Light was. Though he didn’t know how to reach the Temple of Light, he could still explore, maybe find some answers, around the Temple of Time. As he stepped to the spot where the Triforce was marked, the wind picked up, making him shiver. But as it cut through him, he realized he could feel something in it- a dark aura.
“Uh oh.” Looking for the source and preparing to morph if needed, he couldn’t see anything. It was quiet. The wind stopped blowing, and he morphed back to his hawk form, flapping to gain his altitude and he soared back toward the Castle Town.

Chapter 2- Who You Can Trust

The sun was setting by the time he finally made it back to the outer gates, landing on a wall and demorphing before he leaped down with a thud. Trying not to panic, he made his way through the streets, starting to calm down as night settled, getting to the southern road. He turned and went down a set of stairs to a small, enclosed area, walking into a business- Telma’s Bar. He thought how where he had come from he’d never be allowed into a bar at his age- but here it was different. The bar acted as a safe house and meeting place for the group fighting for Hyrule’s freedom- including a secret passage into the Castle, or at least until the Castle had been utterly destroyed. He’d been unconscious at the time, but saw the damage, or more total destruction, later on. He spotted a group of teenagers at a table in the corner. The first one he saw was a very good friend of his, her fiery hazel eyes looking to him as he saw them, her brown hair pulled back into a ponytail. She smiled.
“Tobias!” she called. “Welcome back.” Tobias grinned back and walked over to them.
“Hi Celeste,” he looked at the others. “Hi Destiny, Link, Zelda.”
“Hey Tobias. How’d it go?” Link, the Hero of Twilight and descendant of the Hero of Time, asked. He brushed his dark blond hair out of his eye. His eyes, a piercing blue, finally weren’t shadowed with his fate, his destiny. The Master Sword and a Hylian Shield were on his back, and he was wearing his usual green tunic. He seemed a lot more carefree after their battle.
“I thought you’d be gone longer,” Zelda, Princess of Hyrule, said as she brushed her long, light-brown hair back. Her pale blue eyes still grieved for the loss of the Castle, but they were getting stronger- especially at the defeat of the evil king, Ganondorf. Tobias shuddered as he thought of their enemy’s last words.
“If you think this is over…”
“Yeah. About that, I think something’s wrong.” Destiny jumped up, her reckless, dark hazel eyes brightening, her dark-brown hair streaked against her neck with her speed as he explained the wind he felt.
“Whoo! Let’s go kick some monster’s butt!” Celeste shoved her back down into her seat.
“Let’s not and say we did,” Celeste told her.
“Aww…” Destiny slumped down in the chair and crossed her arms.
“I’m probably making a fuss over nothing,” Tobias added quickly. Both Celeste and Zelda stared straight into his eyes.
“Tobias. You’re the Sage of Light. You’re the most sensitive of us all to darkness and evil. If something’s gone wrong, you’ll be the first to know about it.” Celeste, Sage of Water. Zelda, Sage of Time. Just then Link, Celeste, and Zelda all narrowed their eyes, listening.
“What?” Destiny demanded. Tobias shrugged. The three of them were Hylian, meaning they had excellent hearing due to their long, pointed ears. Legend had it that they were able to hear the voices of the creators of the Triforce- Din of Power, Farore of Courage, and Nayru of Wisdom. Whether that was true or not, Tobias didn’t know.
“Something’s happening outside,” both Celeste and Link, brother and sister, said in synchronization. The five kids leaped up and dashed out the door. Even Destiny was shocked by the number of monsters and the gathering darkness in the center of town.

Chapter 3- The New Fight

“This isn’t good,” Link stated, drawing his sword. Destiny laughed, as she always did in the face of danger. Zelda, out of habit, backed up- but then pulled her hand back behind her. It started to glow. Tobias focused his energy, and sighed. He barely knew his power as the Sage of Light, and he wasn’t sure what his limits were. Both Zelda and Celeste had told him they would help, but no one was expecting a new attack so quickly. Celeste shut her eyes, opened them again, and closed her hand into a fist. A fire formed right above it. The strange monsters looked at each other, then attacked.
“What are those things?”
“What’s going on?”
“Somebody help us!” The citizens were having a fit.
“Could Ganondorf be behind this?” Destinyl wondered.
“Maybe… I don’t know. There’s no way he could attack again so quickly. I mean, he’s supposed to be dead,” Celeste seemed to be talking to herself as much as Destiny, and leaped into the air, shooting the fire at one of the monsters. It made an odd squishing noise, and burst into small pieces of darkness.
“That hasn’t stopped him before,” Link pointed out as he used a spin attack. Destiny shocked one of the nearby creatures, and it fell and burst. Zelda herself moved her hand forward, a large ball of flame forming and moving out. It exploded as it hit another monster. Tobias pulled his hand back and threw it forward, a stream of light striking their enemies. Then suddenly a strange feeling came over him, and he didn’t like it. It was dark, sinister, like something bad was about to happen.
“What… is that?” he wondered. Celeste’s eyes lit up, and she shouted.
“We have to get out of here!” She transformed into an odd shadow being- a Twili- with light and dark blue eyes (one covered by a piece of the Fused Shadows), green hair ending in a neon blue tip, black arms and one leg, everything else about her a pale blue color, and the markings of Twilight on her arms and legs in a blue color. She threw her arm into the air, and suddenly they were standing in the field near the Bridge of Eldin. Celeste, or in her current form known as Midina, was staring out at the castle.
“What’s going on?” Link wondered.
“Look…” Zelda’s voice was shaking. A huge sphere of darkness suddenly burst and engulfed the castle along with the town, and slowly expanded over part of the fields.
“That… isn’t good…” Destiny breathed.
“No it isn’t. And it’s not like Twilight. Something’s seriously wrong, and I don’t think it was Ganondorf’s doing. Or at least, he wasn’t alone,” Celeste explained. Tobias glanced up to the sky, where the moon was climbing. Suddenly a small light streaked across the sky, but he ignored it.
“We should find somewhere to catch some sleep,” he suggested. “I’m exhausted.” Through his entire last adventure, he’d barely slept at all. There just wasn’t time to.
“True enough. We’re not that far from Kakariko,” Destiny pointed out.
“Let’s go.” The group crossed the field toward the village, tired and confused. When they arrived, a shape was lurking through the middle street toward them.
“Renado! It’s me, Link!”
“Link? What are you doing out here at this hour?”

Chapter 4- Introductions and Explanations

“There’s been an attack on Hyrule Castle Town, and we came here after we escaped. I hope you don’t mind us staying at the inn for a little while,” Link explained.
“Wait. What happened?” Renado wondered.
“There was an explosion of darkness that totally engulfed the entire town, plus part of the field.”
“Ah. That’s horrible… But we can talk more once we’re inside. Come.” Renado turned around and headed for a large building, Link following closely, with Zelda and Celeste behind them and Tobias and Destiny bringing up the rear. They entered the inn, lit by candles. Renado looked over their group.
“…Princess Zelda? Is that you, you’re majesty?”
“Greetings Renado. Yes. I hope everything’s been alright here,” Zelda replied.
“Peaceful, thanks to Link. What brings you to our dusty little village?”
“The Castle has been utterly destroyed, then the attack…” Zelda trailed off.
“Princess, I’m sorry.”
“Don’t be.” She smiled.
“Anyway, I don’t believe I’ve met the rest of you. I am Renado, chief of Kakariko Village. My daughter Luda is currently in the Sanctuary.”
“Hi Renado. I’m Celeste,” she replied. “Link’s sister.”
“You never told me you had a sister…”
“It never came up. Primarily, I didn’t know she was alive…” Link answered.
“Oh my.”
“It’s a long story.”
“Anyway, I’m Destiny. Any monsters need to be destroyed around here?”
“She’s a serious fighter,” Celeste explained. “We’re not sure why.” Destiny grinned in her direction.
“I see. Well, I admire your courage, Destiny. I hope you have the mind to balance it out though,” Renado replied.
“Heck no!” Celeste laughed. “That’s why I always have to be around.” Destiny glared at her, but didn’t say anything.
“And you are, young man?” he asked in Tobias’s direction.
“My name is Tobias. I came here to Hyrule a couple months ago, and I guess you could say I found where I truly belong.” So many layers of meaning in his words. “Plus the people I belong with.” Link, the legendary hero. Zelda and Celeste, Sages like him.
“Well, welcome Tobias. I think I’ve actually seen you, briefly, before, but you were with a different group.”
“Yes. They were my friends, but decided they needed to go back home. I miss them, but our paths have gone in different directions I guess. Though there’ll always be something that defines our friendship and trust in each other. I doubt I’ll never see them again.”
“That’s wonderful, and words beyond your years. But please don’t mind me. I’m sure you’re all tired. I’ll see you all in the morning. Princess Zelda, Link,” Renado bowed, and headed back out into the night. After a little while, as they were getting situated upstairs, Celeste stopped in her tracks.
“Someone’s outside, and I don’t recognize him.”

Chapter 5- A New Ally

“Maybe you just haven’t met-” Destiny’s suggestion was cut off by a look from Celeste.
“Think about how many times I’ve been around this land. I know, or at least have seen, probably just about everyone- from Ordonians to Gorons to Yetis.”
“Good point.”
“Listen, this guy isn’t charging in for an attack. He’s moving pretty slowly, like he’s either lost or wants to find something. If it’s just me, he may not either run or attack. We don’t need another fight right now Destiny,” she added as Destiny drooped down in disappointment.
“But-”
“No buts!” Everyone else shouted at her.
“Fine, fine. Sheesh.”
“Anyway, I’ll be right back. I’m sure you’ll hear me if I need help.”
“Yeah. We just have to listen for a tidal wave, avalanche, or watch for the inn burning or being smashed to bits,” Tobias laughed and shoved her playfully.
“You think you’re funny…” she replied with a smile.
“Yeah…” He grinned.
“Alright. I’m out of here.” The group headed downstairs and she went outside, everyone else listening at the door.
“Excuse me!” a voice called. Tobias and Destinyl exchanged a look. Confusion turned to a warning as he noticed her reckless expression. “Maybe you can help me. I’m kind of lost. Where are we?”
“This is Kakariko Village,” Celeste replied, her voice friendly.
“In Hyrule, right?”
“Yeah.” She paused. “You’re not from around here, are you?”
“Uh… no. I mean… should I leave? Are you uncomfortable about me being here?”
“Not at all. I’m not your average person. Why don’t you come inside?”
“What are they talking about?” Zelda wondered as they spread away from the door.
“If that’s okay. I’m getting tired, for sure.”
“Well yeah. It has to be past midnight, right?”
“Something like that.” The door creaked as it opened, and Celeste led the newcomer inside. Tobias tried to control his jaw from dropping as he saw him.
“Uh… hi?” he said, his blue eyes wary as he saw the group. “How’s it going?”
“Could be better, could be worse…” Link replied.
“I’m sorry if I startled you. I know you’re not used to seeing people like me,” the boy said as he shook his head, his brown hair rustling. Of course, the golden laurels partially hidden in it stayed put. A draft picked up from the other room, an open window, and lifted his white wings the slightest bit.
“Ack! What am I doing? Sorry about that.” He scratched the back of his head with his free hand and smiled sheepishly. In the other he held a beautiful, yet sharp, blue bow with a yellow edge. “I’m called Pit.”
“Nice to meet you Pit. I’m Celeste, and this is Link, Zelda, Tobias, and Destiny.” Tobias couldn’t get over the fact that an angel was standing right in front of them.
