Chapter 23- Parents and Daughters

I looked at mom for a couple of seconds, wiping my tears away. Why couldn't she remember us? I saw the wizard appear to mom's left side and I glared at him. He had the same blank expression on his face as mom did, meaning he was under a spell, probably the same one as mom. I glanced at Lin, but quickly glanced back as I saw another presence step between my mom and the wizard; the dark lord and some soldiers. I saw Maya take a step forward, as mom did at the same time. I looked at Maya, I didn't want her to hurt mom.. yet I didn't want her to get hurt either. I swung my attention to the dark lord as he laughed

"You really thought you could get out so easily?! Not without a fight at least wouldn't you say?"

I glanced at the wizard and mom, why is it our family that is always has some sort of problems?

"Well, do you want to take the first strike or should your mother?" The dark lord asked Maya, as I looked at her.

"Allow me!" Lin suddenly spoke, making me slightly jump

Lin had somehow been able to avoid my parents and get behind the dark lord. He made the first strike, sending the lord to the wall. As the guards were trying to go help the dark lord, Jason ran in front of them. I saw Lin attacking the dark lord, as if he was his enemy, not his own dad. The fight between them looked pretty even, when Lin hit his dad, his dad would hit him back. I wanted to run to his side to tell him to run, but I saw mom hit Maya with some magic spell, crashing her into the wall.

"Maya!" I screamed, running to her side, helping her stand up. I could feel the anger rising at the wizard. Why couldn't he do anything to free mom?

"Why the hell can't you do anything you damn wizard!" I screamed pissed off, standing up.

I ran towards him, shifting into a blue mountain tiger. I tried yelling at him, but a loud roar came out of my mouth as I slashed the wizard. I jumped to attack him again, but hit the ground with empty paws. I glanced around me and saw the wizard come running towards me from my right side, hitting me agenst the wall with a spell. I felt myself winded as I hazily stood up, taking in large breaths. I saw him glance at mom, and took this pause to my advantage.
I quickly stood up and ran back up to him, biting his shoulder, he quietly screamed, but pushed me back onto the ground. He grabbed his now bleeding shoulder, staring at me. He came running towards me, this time with a sword, trying to hit me. I dodged all of his attacks, as he swung his sword, half like he knew what he was doing, half he didn't. I ran a bit down the hallway and stopped, so I could breath for a bit. He came running towards me, with the sword still firm in his hands, but I quickly dodged him, running back to the end of the hallway where everyone else was.

"Why can't you remember your own daughters?" I heard Maya yell

I slightly glanced at her, but quickly looked back at the dark wizard. I didn't want to leave any openings.

"Can't you remember how you taught us magic? How you gave us that grey mush all the time? Can't you even remember how you tried to fix our eyes?" Maya yelled again and I felt like I wanted to cry.

The wizard stood still as he dropped his sword onto the ground with a thump noise. I saw him put his hands together, mumbling a few words, probably to cast another spell on me. I took a breath, getting ready for his attacks, as I suddenly realized I was back in my human form. I paused for a second, with my eyes wide, but now saw the wizard casting another spell. I closed my eyes, waiting for an attack to hit me, but I felt something was sucking me in and I shot my eyes open. What the hell? I was suddenly in a dark vortex, full of stars and darkness and swirls of white and black, and even sometimes a bit of color. I didn't know what was happening, all I knew was that I could have hope again. The wizard didn't finish me off.
