Spending most of my Gaia time in Q&F now, I've been reading a lot of threads of people being hacked. it's scary, but I can't help but wonder, how many of those were the users' own fault?
Maybe I'm just extremely lucky, but in 9 years of very active internet useage, haven't been hacked, cracked or otherwise endangered online. No one has ever used any of my accounts. I've been chat room regular, board frequenter, mod, admin, beta tester, alpha tester, QA; I've used MSN, ICQ, Trillian, mIRC and various hack, mod androm sites on a regular basis. I save my password and I use cookies. My passwords are simple. But not birthday/pet name/bf/gf/mother name simple.
Sure, I've had people *ask* me for my password. But giving your password out (which I don't do, duuurh) is not the same as being hacked. It is, however, the same as being stupid.
So how many of these people got "hacked" because they were stupid?
Am I just lucky?

kikilon's Lost Thoughts
This is my place to rant and squeal about everything Gaia. Mostly to keep my LJ readers sane(ish). You probably won't find much real life stuff here, but fashion tips, Worst Thread Ever and shopping sprees will all be here, I suppose.
