I want to do D&D. I've never had the chance, because I live in Hicksville and I have no one to play with. What I do know about it makes me think I'd really like it, and not having any experience with D&D really makes me feel like a a bit of a poser-nerd. I think when I go on to a four-year college, one of the things high on my agenda will be to find a gaming group.
Another thing that makes me feel like a bit of a poser is the fact that I haven't finished any of the main-story quests in Mabinogi. My human character is tot. lvl. 160-something, but I'm stuck in G1 because I don't have any friends (it takes three to get into the the G1 Alby RP Dungeon). None of the friends I had before my long break play anymore and my Guild kicked me out. I want a Pally, dangit!!
I'm a little behind the times. I bought Portal. I played through it three times. It was awesome. I also snitched my Dad's copy of Mirror's Edge but my PC is so old it laughed at me for trying to run such a high quality game on it. Then it died. I'm thinking about having my MAC run dual OS so that I can play PC games. Of course, then I would never get ANYTHING done.
In real-life realm, I discovered that perforating by hand is probably a form of capitol punishment somewhere. I had to make high quality mock-ups of my design for the Portfolio Show invitations. Our show is on May 4th. There are 8 people in my class. I'm really not looking forward to presenting my portfolio in front of the first years because they are so much better than I am...
I think I'm going to start doing my posts here like Aaron Williams. That said, here is the latest loot from hours of mind-less surfing:
-Starting things off with The Rubik's Cube from Hell
-The Video that made me go "WTF? 0.o" (the first time, I laughed the second). eegs2j:2="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=32WjO7IiHpI]This one amused me greatly though.
-This is how I feel. Right now, I'm Elise (the blonde). I like video games. I know a workable amount general "geek lore" (though I do know a lot about my specialized fields of interest) but my true-geek friends still say things that go way over my head. I'd like to be more like Vanessa (Red-head with the Stargate SG-1 patch on her jacket :3). Vanessa knows everything. About everything geeky.
THE MAJOR POINT... it amused me to put it in all caps.
I had a thought about that. Right now, I'm pretty much only majoring in Graphic Design because I can and I don't know what exactly I want to do with my life. I'm pretty luke-warm at art too, so I'm not sure if I'm in the right field yet. If I do stay with Graphic Design, there are several specializations I'm leaning towards:
*I've been spending a lot of time on Gaia this past half year. It got me thinking that Gaia would be a really cool place to work. They hire lots of graphic artist and/or programmers. I don't know so much coding (except for HTML and BBCode of course) right now (something else that makes me feel a bit poser-esk) and I'd really like to learn.
*Then I thought about game concept art. I'm trying to learn how to paint in photoshop.
*Another thing, and one that my instructor brought up today, is freelance single panel comics. There are magazines that accept those for print and then pay a per-comic rate. That's how Aaron Williams hit it off.
If I don't stay in art, I'll probably start studying IT. But most of those jobs are going to India.
/end rant
Anyway
-This amuses me. Because A)It's not as good, and B) MAC has already realized the problems with that technology.
-And the coolest most-geeky thing I've read in a while.
I'll try to have better stuff next time. I'm going to go try to write a Haiku for the Mabinogi contest. You win, you get 20,000NX. It's worth it to try.
