Kisses with Fangs Book One Love story From what she could tell life had gone from good to better to almost-damn-near-perfect in the last year. While on vacation at the beach to visit her older brother she’d meet a hot surfer dude calling himself Day and after one day of dating she learned the biggest secret of Day’s life, he was a real live vampire and best of all he was in love with her. Unfortunately that same day she found out her brother, which she’d known for 18 years now was also a vampire and surprise hated her boyfriend Day. How great. Her phone suddenly went off. “Pay attention!” Her Brother, Tyler. It had been a full year since she’d started dating Day and her brother got sicker about the idea every day. You see, he was a Capulet and Day was a Montague and the Capulet’s and the Montague’s didn’t get along, duh, that’s why the head of the vampire clans called them that. “Kiss my butt” she barked at him. She hadn’t run off the road or was going to fast or anything to make him yell at her like that, he was only freaking out because this was her first time on the highway. The normal way to her mother’s house was at least a three hour drive. the other way was only an hour and a half. Did she even mention that where she was going and the reason for Tyler’s worst than normal temper, she was packing her things to move into Day’s place. After a year it was about time! “I cannot believe I’m doing this” Tyler called “I didn’t ask you to come with Tyler” she told him What a pain in the butt! “I’m sorry I’m driving too slow for you Tyler, I’m doing the speed limit” she said. “At least you get to drive his car” “Don’t remind me it’s his car!” he barked “Go a little faster for my sake I want to get this over with all ready!” “I told you to go first and lead the way but your too stubborn” she told him “If I did that you’d ride my bumper the entire way” he said “Bull” “deer” She almost went soaring through the window trying to stop, she saw the big deer on the side of the road and it sent a panic through her entire nerve system. Her father had died in a car crash when his car hit a deer on his way home now she was terrified to drive at night and through wooded paths. “Damn-it Cayce he wasn’t going to move!” Tyler shouted Tyler had special senses, it wasn’t like seeing the future or anything that special but he was able to sense when things were going to move or talk it was freaky. She resumed her speed in silence, she’d embarrassed herself and could have caused a serious accident good thing the roads were clearer today. She heard Tyler sigh. “Then why’d you pick him out! You had to have known I’d stop!” Cayce barked at him “Why do you think I didn’t run into your bumpy?!” Silence again. Cayce couldn’t stand Tyler’s attitude lately he used to be so sweet t her. He still was but when they were on the topic of Day, which this whole day was about, they didn’t get along at all. It was all the feuds fault. Once upon a time right after Shakespeare himself a Capulet vampire killed a human and a Montague was blamed by the other human villagers because he was already suspected to being a witch, when asked to come forward for his crime and take his rightful place as the killer the Capulet said it was the Montague’s fault for not hiding well enough and let him die, ever since then the Montague’s have hated the stubborn selfish Capulet’s, and the Capulet’s have hated the stuck up snobby Montague’s. “I can’t believe I’m helping a stuck up Montague!” See! Cayce shook her head it was time to tune Tyler out he was just going to rant for the rest of the trip. Making him stop would be easy just a click of her radio knob and a pop of the New Twilight soundtrack disk and…. “No! Cayce!” he barked They hated it Day and Tyler both, she would compare them to the character in the book even though they were nothing alike. To tell the truth Day was a coward and didn’t have a back bone in his name but he was one hell of a romantic when called to be, weird. “Why do you insist on hanging on to those stupid fantasies when your living the real thing!” Tyler shouted “The same reason anyone who isn’t living it would, to escape reality” she told him “You sound like Day” she smiled “Montague Scum!” “Capulet p***k” Cayce replied “Get me to mom’s house as fast as you can or I swear I will break everyone of your CDs” he screamed “Just try” Cayce said She gasped when she felt the bump and saw Tyler ramming the front of Day’s car into the back of Day’s other car. That psycho path! She watched him speed up and to the side of her. “Go!” she saw his lips move before she heard the sound. Cayce’s blood boiled looking into his face, he had bright orange spiky hair with muddy brown eyes and his entire body was covered in freckled as dark a chocolate. He burned lie crazy, why he’d moved at the beach she would never know, now I know your thinking Vampire’s at the beach how? The sun doesn’t burn them or a big bummer for Cayce glitter it only made them weaker fighters. Cayce sneered at him then hit the gas. It was a silent ride to her mom’s house now he’d pissed her off and she’d returned the favor the sight of the road sign to get off sent a sigh of relief through her. Her mom kept a nice welcoming home that would be an even greater relief. When Cayce parked the car and got out her mom gave both cars a look. “I thought Day drove nice cars” she knew he drove better cars than this Tyler walked away to the back yard lighting a cigarette as he went, she’d embarrassed him on accident. Her mom smiled at her sweetly and lead her inside once the doors closed she hugged her. “I swear one of these day’s he’s going to make me say something I don’t mean” Cayce complained She meant the famous line’s that tempted her tongue every time Tyler did something to make her made, the “can’t you unadoptable him” line. You see Tyler was adopted into her family two years before Cayce herself was born. And Tyler was a vampire baby, a baby born of a vampire father and a human mother, they grow until a couple years after maturity making Tyler look 18 but really 20 years old. But Tyler really did care for Cayce and she loved him deeply saying anything that cruel would break both their hearts. “You’re the one dating his enemy Kay” her mother said. So it was her fault? No that’s not what her mother was trying to say she was only trying to comfort everyone at once. “Go start packing your things now dear” she told her. Cayce could have kicked herself for doing this, why hadn’t she just told Day her mom wouldn’t let her pack up her things because she’d miss her too much and needed something to hold on to of her. Half of her room was stuffed animals the other half a geeks fantasy land of comic books and action figures, she could leave those here. “What a mess” Tyler stood beside her Cayce fanned the air the smell of cigarette smoke was so strong on his clothing she used to tease him that he was going to die of smoking but being a vampire that soon became untrue. “Are you sure you want to take all of this to his place” he asked “Oh just pack it up” Cayce sighed “But leave that stuff here I can do without” she pointed to the geek side of her room “What all do you want to go” he asked unfolding boxes “My cloths, my books, I guess my bears” she said “What about the bed sheets?” “No Day has bed sheets” Stupid! She watched the lamp go crashing to the ground caused by Tyler’s slap. Cayce had to choose her words more carefully especially in his temper today. “Keep doing that and I’ll have nothing to pack” she said Tyler just snatched up two duffel bags “Put your cloths in these” he growled He started to shove the stuffed animals into the box and she went to her closet. She was never much of a neat packer so she just grabbed an armful of cloths folded them all twice and shoved them into the bag. “I hope you know how to iron” Tyler told her “You pack your way I’ll pack mine” she said then grabbed another armful. Packing this way didn’t take too long it was figuring out what she needed to take of furniture that was the hassle, she didn’t have a lot of furniture to begin with a desk and an arm chair but really all she wanted was the fold-up bowl chair, but she also needed her book shelf if she was taking all of her books. That was too hard to pack in the small cars they had brought so she just hoped Day had one she could use at his place. Tyler squeezed everything into the two cars grunting and groaning, what a complainer. “Don’t forget to say good bye to mom your killing her with this you know that right” he said. One of his many excuses. “Oh please Tyler can’t you come up with anything better than that, it’s a two hour drive to the beach from her if she wants to visit she can” Cayce told him. She went up to the house and hugged her mom. “Christmas is at your place this year mom and New years but thanksgivings at Days ok” she said. It was a relief to have a holiday plan they didn’t have one last year and Cayce got so confused where she was supposed to be when. “Ok tell Day hi for me and give him a big kiss like this” her mom grabbed her forehead and kissed it. Cayce laughed. “I will” she said “Tyler baby come to mommy” she called. Tyler came up to her and she grabbed him in a crushing hug. She grabbed his face and shook it playfully. “Behave alright I don’t feel like going all the way down to the beach to break up fights” she told him. “Yes mama I’ll try my best” that was a lie and Cayce knew it. After that they hit the road again and Tyler had no interest in speaking so Cayce preoccupied herself by going through her list, her list of rights and wrongs all those books she’d read about Vampires were true. Yes, vampires slept. No, not in a coffin in a bed. Yes, holy water worked. No, you’d need more than a drop more like a pools full. Yes, silver worked too and crosses but that was about the same as Holy water, you’d need a lot. Yes, they drank blood and yes it was from humans but no it was not from biting into their flesh directly. It worked like this they got blood from their representatives who were doctors and they got it from the donations people gave of blood. I know that doesn’t seem to fair because dyeing people need that blood but they also had humans that worked for the vampire’s who would go out and donate blood to replace the gallons they used so it all worked out fine except that Day wouldn’t let her donate. And like she’d said sunlight doesn’t affect them it just makes them as weak as humans to be out in the sun, like if you tried to pick a fight with one during the day you could possibly win but as soon as that sun went down or if you were in a room with no windows you were in huge trouble. Tyler wasn’t in a hurry now; he was taking dear sweet time getting back to day’s place. But that just made the sight of the ocean all that more exciting for Cayce and going down the dirt road up to Day’s big house was the biggest relief of her life, it was sad she and her brother used to get along so well this time last year she’d have given anything for a trip like this now it was just a thorn in her butt. Day was waiting in his garage for them to drive up, what a guy he was good looking that was for sure not exactly the most handsome guy in the world but Cayce loved him. Day had a naturally shy look permanently implanted on his face that made his already boyish round face irresistibly adorable. He had pitch black hair which made his pale skin look snow white under the locks his eyes were a bright deep blue color. And Day lived almost completely alone in the house only one other person lived with him a freaky girl by the name of Tulu even Day didn’t like her but she was a fellow Montague and he couldn’t deny an ally room and board. “Did you hit something Kay?” he asked when she parked the car in the garage. Her fault again, nope not even with Day he just tried everything he could to get on Tyler’s good side. He, unlike Tyler, actually didn’t base everything on the story and didn’t hate Tyler just for being a Capulet. Cayce hugged him fiercely, a thank you for trying hug. She smiled big when Day patted her head gently. “Lets get your things inside Cayce” he said They heard a car door slam and an engine roar. Tyler was in his own pickup truck backing out of the place, he gave Day a good stare then sped off. Cayce rolled her eyes, he was such a child. “I’ll help you” Day told her. They gathered up all of the boxes and carried them inside the house. The room he’d furnished for her was very nicely done. The walls were a cream color that complimented the rich cobalt coloring of the bed spread on the queen size bed. The spread had vine’s of black velvet tangled all over it for the pattern and came with two full size black pillows and three cobalt ones with cobalt curtains to bring it all into balance. The furniture in the room included only two side tables each on the other side of the head of the bed that held a small cream colored candle in a crystal holder. Cayce was glad her fold up chair matched the colors in the room now she had somewhere to sit. “You brought you books?” Day asked. He was going through the boxes each one had already been opened. “Yeah, do you have a self I can put them on or a book case for my room” ‘My room’ Cayce liked the sound of it already. “There’s one in my basement, send Tulu to get it” he said Day could get along with anyone with the world just as right as rain but Tulu, she was obnoxious and crazy even Cayce couldn’t stand her. “I’d rather get it myself” she said “ok” Day understood completely. Day’s basement was creepy, he was an old vampire almost at the end of one lifetime, 100, that’s how the vampire’s counted your age there was even a party being held for all of the vampires who were ageing up another 100 years. But because Day was so old he had old things in his basement covered in dust and probably attracting nasty little germs. She found the cleanest book case she could that would match the wood in the room but it was too much for her to carry on her own, she’d need Tulu. Cayce ran back up stairs and found Tulu’s room, was it really that hard no she had her name plastered all over the door along with threats in several different languages. Cayce already regretted her decision hearing the weird cahnting music coming from inside. “Tulu” she opened the door carefully, there was no telling where Tulu was. Tulu’s room was a sight her ceiling, walls, and floor where all painted black and weird symbols cahlked in white on the walls. And surprise, surprise Tulu was standing on her head chanting. Cayce’s eye twitched at the sight. “and what do I owe this awful intrusion of my personal space” Tulu asked Bish “I need help getting a book case out of Day’s basement I need it for my room” Cayce said “but- Days’ basement is icky’ Tulu said Cayce sighed “Please Tulu” “Fine” Tulu flipped over and walked out of the room. Could Tulu cut her hair once, it was blonde and went all the way down to her knees and her eyes were so green they looked like seaweed not very attractive but she sure thought she was the hottest thing in the house. And with all of that complaining she lifted the bookcase with one arm and carried it up stairs. “Thank you so much Tulu” Cayce said loud enough to warn Day she was about to enter. But Tulu just tossed the book case in almost on top of Day. “You’re welcome try not to make too much noise I’m doing serious work in my room” she turned on her heel and left the room. Cayce sneered at her but closed the door. It was amazing how rude she was and how much Day could get done in just a couple of minutes. He’d gotten everything unpacked and assorted around the room. All her stuffed animals made a pyramid in the corner of the room. “Oh” Cayce sighed happily Day looked at all of it standing it. “Is this alright?” he asked Cayce hugged him. “it’s perfect!” Day looked every bit cute and shy like he couldn’t harm a fly but he was a lover if there ever was one. He whisked Cayce up into his arms and kissed her. “do you really like your room?” he put her down “mm, hmm” Cayce nodded she sat down on the bed. “Oh it’s so soft” she lied back, rubbing the sheets. Day’s hands were suddenly on her hips and he slide all the way up to her hands so he was now lying flat on top of her face to face. Cayce giggled. “I’m glad Tyler left” he said “Suddenly me too” Cayce ran her fingers through his hair. They’d never ‘played the piano’, yet, they really just messed around. Day kissing her neck sent chills up her spine she’d told herself a long time ago that if he ever wanted to change her she’s refuse until she’d given him her own vampire baby, like Tyler. Besides the world needed more guys like Day. “Are you hungery?” he tickled her belly. “Yes” she giggled. They got up and headed on down stairs to the big kitchen. Yes, vampire’s ate. Did they need too? No, but eating meat sometimes gave them the nutirtional value if it wasn’t cookedd all the way. Day pulled out a hamburger steak and threw it into a fryer pan then grabbed the seasoning. Cayce looked through a magazine at the kitchen counter. “How was the ride?” Day asked “Let’s see a ride with my Capulet brother to pack up my things to come live with my Montague boyfriend” Cayce said. Day laughed at her sarcasm. “ok then wrong question how’s your mother doing?” he asked instead. “Oh” Cayce jumped up. She run up to him and grabbed his ears kissing his forehead. “That’s from her” “I’m sorry I’d send one back but I don’t know when we’d see her again” Day said giving her a hug from behind. “I promise to make it to Christmas” Cayce said “Cayce I don’t want you to feel like you have to make it to anytime to see your mother, your welcome to go home anytime you know that” Day told her. “It took me a year to get this far don’t push me away Day” Cayce said “I’m not” she’d scared him. She laughed and kissed his cheek to calm him down. Day finished and diced up the steak and onions then dished them out onto two plates. He sat them on the table in front of Cayce and the empty chair beside her then went to the freezer grabbing a metal water bottle, he kept his donated blood in these so Cayce couldn’t see what was inside them like she cared. He bent down and got Cayce a soda but nearly jumped out of his skin when there was a loud boom up stairs. “What was that!?” he brought the drinks over. Cayce grabbed them while he wasn’t looking and switched the two drinks spots. “It sounded like Tulu” she said. Directly they heard her running down the steps and in a flash she was in the room. She threw her hands up and screamed. ‘Oh-My-God!” she slammed them on the tabled making Day jump again. “You will never believe what I just found out!” “What Tulu” Cayce groaned. “The Tudors are trying to break off from the clans it’s treason” she called “What!” Day looked at her. This surprised Cayce too she knew the Tudors where one of the highest clans besides the Clients, who were the highest of the High. “it’s full blown treason their going to start a fight with this all the clans will be destroyed!” Tulu ran around the kitchen too excited to sit while Day looked worried. For a vampire Day didn’t handle things like violence too well. “who told you this Tulu” Cayce asked. She needed to calm Day down now if only Tulu would cooperate. “it’s all over the news” Tulu said. Nope The vampire’s had their own news network on the internet. It was designed to look like a cheap fan site for geeks into role play, so sometimes hackers ended up getting in and posting untrue facts. “are you sure it’s not just a rumor then?” Cayce asked. Come on Tulu throw me a bone. Tulu shrugged “I heard some geeks hacked our system last week their still trying to clean up fact from crap” she said. Thank you! Day calmed down immediately and Tulu turned back to go on up to her room again to do who knows what. “They need to put a better filter on that thing” He said Cayce nodded playing along with him, at least he was calm now. “Your rooms too empty we should go out and buy you some new furniture” Day said. “If it’ll make you feel better Day” Cayce smiled at him. Shopping with Day was the must fun she could ever had especially when he
