It seems that once again, we have another overly-commercialized holiday nearly upon us. This one is perfect for those who want to throw money away on cheap, yet expensive pink, frilly cards, candies, and going out to some fancy place for the sake of saying "I love you" to someone. I want to ask why is it that you need a special day of the year to do any of this. Why can't people do this in July or September? I myself do not see any particular difference between one day of the year from the next. And they all say that we need to get our significant others an expensive card. I have a better idea. Make your own card up. Or you could write her a letter letting her know how you feel. They also seem to believe that you must buy her expensive flowers, candy, and jewelry. Why? Is materialism the way to another's heart now? How about taking her out sometime OTHER than the birthday of some long dead Saint who liked pink just a little too much. Nor do the flowers have to be expensive. Hell, a carnation and a trip to a nice, quiet coffee shop can be plenty romantic.
Personally, I think Gaia needs to do an Anti-Valentine's Ball this year. Make it Goth or Emo. There's plenty of both here, and they need their day too. I think the theme song could be Love Hurts by Nazareth. It's a fitting song, considering how many of us have gone through bad experiences, or just do not have anyone to share their hearts with. We could even have a contest about who has the worst break-up story. And you never know, maybe a few people might meet someone their.

Justin's Musings
Just my random thoughts... maybe a poem now and then. Might even have some fiction thrown in there
