Name: Jan Riku
Age: 27
Race: Zora
Occupation: Conman, Carnival Worker [gambling booth leader], Treasure Hunter
Alignment: Hero/Nuetral
Personality: Jan is a con man by profession, and even in his current occupation, uses his charismatic personalityto get people to gamble thier souls to a dark goddess. Even though he does so much wrong, he knows it is wrong, and seeks to destroy the source.
Weapons/Magic Abilities:
Weapons Jan has a cane. Its straight, and made out of black wood, with a silver piece on the bottom, a silver ring halfway to the top, and a silver gem holder with a large amythest gemstone embedded inside. The cane is mostly currently serves no practical purpose other than to hit people and monsters with. It doesnt do much damage, but on the other hand, Jan isnt muscularly strong, so it wouldnt even if it was a battle cane.
Magic: Jan is cursed/blessed by the Dark Goddess Tula, and is forced into collecting souls for her. Besides the servitude and lack of rest that comes with the curse, he has a few powers that make it into a sort of blessing. To begin with, Jan is "undead", but only in the sence that mortal wounds cant kill him, but will only weaken him (read backround for detail). If Jan were to recieve such a wound, it would take time to heal, proportional to the size of the wound. As part of his job, Jan must collect souls for Tula, and as such, can take the souls of those who forfiet theirs to Tula (either from trickery or persuasion). In addition to being undead, Jan has the ability to turn those who are weaker than him in both magical and physical prowess into skulltulas.
Strengths: Strongly Persuasive, smart, can't die.
Weaknesses: Not very strong, lack of death makes him able to take alot of punishment, which makes him a good (or bad in his eyes) candidate for torture.
Background or Other Info: Jan's story really begins they day he sold his soul. It all started one night at a local carnival in Termina. He'd been drinking very heavily, and was gambling away the little he had. Later in the night, when only a few more customers wandered the grounds, when he could barely walk without stumbling, he was called into another gambling booth. Drunk to all heck, he was easily tricked into selling his soul to the Dark Goddess Tula, Queen of Spiders, Curses, and Torment. That night, he signed himself up for one-hundred years of servitude, and he learned the real plot behind the carnival.
This Carnival was like no other, it was the Carnival Mystique, a circus ground with the sole purpose of signing on peoples spirits to bring back an ancient diety from another dimension. Every person who walked about those grounds, or walked out cursed carried a symbol on the back of their left hand, an image of a spider. Jan started off at a lowly position, but in a matter of nearly nine years, he had become the head of the gambling booths, because of his great persuasive skills, which no one on the grounds had. Even though he seemed to be destined to run the entire place, he knew that wasnt what he wanted, and he knew it was wrong; a fact that all of the others around the grounds dismissed. Unfortunately, it seemed he could do nothing about it, and he went on with the job.
Then, one day, he was looking around the spot for their next spot, and Jan stumbled into a grotto, with only a gossip stone inside. He'd seen them before, but never really taken a close look at them, so he got closer, and inspected the lone rock. As soon as his blue hand brushed the smooth stone, it began to repeat something that had been sitting inside it for hundreds, even thousands of years. The stone spoke of a sacred temple that held a power so great, it was said to grant the wishes of those who possessed it. The gossip stone mentioned how it (or the person that told it the secret) had looked their entire lives for it, but only knew that his own time was short, and that the gossip stones had a role in finding the power.
Jan, at first, dismissed the idea, mainly because he got it from a gossip stone, and anyone could have told it that, but the more he thought about it, the more real the idea seemed to become, until he formulated a plan that would get him out of the range of the Carnival legally, while finding a way to destroy it. He reported the find to the ringleader, and with his skills, persuaded the leader to allow him to leave, so he could "find a power to resurrect Tula". With the Canival behind him, Jan traveled out into Termina, in search of secrets and clues to aim him at his prize.
Appearance: Jan is a tall lanky Zora, with headfins that come down over his eyes, and long down his back. He wears a purple and tuxedo suit. He leaves the coat out of the ensamble, and instead just wears with purple and black checkered vest that goes with the set, and a purple tinted dress shirt beneath that. On his head is a purple and black tophat. The hat is a bit tattered, and so is the rest of his costume. On his feet, he wears boots with a spike at the tip of the foot, pointing straight up.
