He gasped in the darkness, listening to his heart pounding. What was going to happen to him?

What's that noise?

He whirled around, trying to see the source of the sound he had just heard, but the same inky blackness was now on all sides.

He took a deep breath and willed himself to calm down so that he could concentrate.

He heard it again. It was almost a clicking...

His mind was immediately filled with claws, knives, and other images produced by the sound.

Don't panic! he warned himself, but it was already too late. He spun around in the darkness, trying to see what was out there before it reached him.

"Is this truly what you want?" the voice whispered from the shadows. "I can make this last forever..."

"Leave me alone!" he shouted, backing away from the direction of the voice.

Laughter filled the air as something struck him from behind. Something sharp dug into the back of his neck and he cried out. He broke away, breathing heavily as he felt blood trickling down his back.
