Nyuk nyuk nyuk!
Thought I was really gonna only give ya one chapter for Knishmas?
THOUGHT WRONG! xD
Hehe, here ya guys go!
October 25th. Happy seventeenth birthday to me. Woo. I’ve always been less than enthusiastic about my birthday since I turned eleven and my “friends” bailed last second. And because they thought I was stealing attention.
Like I said. It’s not my fault I look the way I do.
Let’s just say when it comes to my birthday, sub-zero zeal radiates from my body like a poisonous gas. Watch out. I don’t want to kill you, my readers.
The only people immune to my venom is my family, of course. They’ve always been there for me.
Dad had already left for work by the time I was ready to leave for school. Caddie was gone, too, which was unusual. She must’ve had a project due or something. Dad had left a new book for me on my dresser, along with a new bookmark. This year, it was felt, with gold lining, and tassels hanging from it. Pretty. I was admiring it, feeling the silk-like material under my fingers, when Yasuo and Adam came crashing into my room, screaming, “Happy Birthday, Nami!!” I smiled at them. Yasuo hugged my legs, and Adam stood next to me awkwardly, wanting to also hug me, but feeling he was too old to. I saw it on his face.
“Do you feel any older, Nami?” he asked.
“Nope. But I do feel heavier. I can’t even move my legs. I think I need to lose weight, don’t you Adam?” I said, looking down at him. His blue eyes stared back at me, and he frowned.
“Maybe you should tickle it off?” he suggested. Yasuo clutched my legs tighter, and giggled.
“Help?” Adam nodded; grinning, and we both began tickling Yasuo. He burst into a fit of laughter, and let go of my legs to hide under my blankets on my bed. Adam and I were about to go after him when the doorbell rang.
“Nami, would you get that?” Mother called from her room.
“It’s probably just Alek! He can wait!” I called back. I smiled at Adam. “Bye Adam. Tell Yasuo that I’ll get him later.” He laughed under my blankets, and I tousled Adam’s hair. The doorbell rang again. Diiiiiiiiiiing-doooooooong! I sighed, grabbing my schoolbag on my way out of my room. Ever since Alek’s Grandfather started sending his minions after me, he doesn’t let me go anywhere alone. But that was nearly a month ago, and no one’s showed up again. I’m glad I don’t have a life outside of school.
The doorbell rang again.
“Hold on!” I yelled. Adam was following me from my room.
“Alek and Nami, sittin’ in a tree…” he sang. I turned and glared at him, making him shut up.
“Nami! Nami! Wait!” Yasuo exclaimed, running to his and Adam’s room and returning with a birthday card he made me.
“Adam helped me with the words,” he said proudly. I knelt down and hugged him.
“What do I smell like today?” I asked in his ear.
“Vanilla bean frosting,” he answered, hugging me back. I smiled. Vanilla bean was my favorite.
“Hi, Alek,” Adam chirped. I groaned, letting Yasuo go.
“Hi, Adam,” Alek said. “Nami, if you don’t hurry up, we’re going to be late.” I looked up at him. Impatient was written all over his face. I sighed, kissed Yasuo’s forehead, and stood.
“Bye guys. Tell Mother I’ll pick Yasuo up from day-care today,” I instructed Adam, and left with Alek.
“You’ve got to stop doing that,” I said. Alek looked back at me innocently.
“Doing what?” he asked. I glared at him.
“You know what.” I continued to glare at him until he stopped feigning.
“You were taking too long,” he stated. I rolled my eyes.
“Oh, I’m so sorry to keep you waiting.” Alek smirked, and began fidgeting with his lip stud. I shot him another look.
“Are you okay? Is it the rain?” I asked. Rain made Alek uncomfortable, he once told me. It had the opposite effect on me, however. If it weren’t for school and cold, I’d stand in it.
Alek continued to fidget beside me.
“Are you okay?” I asked again. He looked as if were going to say something, and then changed his mind. He nodded. “Move over, you’re pushing me out in the rain.” Alek grinned.
“I thought you liked the rain,” he said.
“I’m not going to school drenched.”
Yes. Alek and I were sharing an umbrella. I was oblivious to the rain and didn’t know about it until I stepped out of the apartment complex, so I didn’t bring one. I hear in some cultures sharing an umbrella establish Alek and I as lovers. Which we aren’t. This is a case of ‘crap-I-forgot-my-umbrella-so-my-best-friend-shares-theirs-with-me’. That’s what I was telling myself anyway. Who knows what goes on in Alek’s head?
“A lot,” he said, answering my silent question. I glared at him.
“You have to stop doing that, too,” I snapped. Alek feigned innocence again.
“Doing what?” he said, batting his long, dark eyelashes. I punched him in the arm, and he grinned at me.
“I’d like some privacy,” I protested.
“And I told you before, I tap into your pretty little head from time to time, and now just happened to be one of those times. Usually it’s just a buzz coming from you, little indistinct words,” he explained again. I slumped my shoulders and sighed. Alek began to play with his stud again. I rolled my eyes, trying to ignore it, but it was rather difficult, seeing how Alek and I were standing mere inches away from each other under an umbrella. He took a deep breath.
“Nami, can I take you out this weekend?” he blurted.
DUN DUN DUUUUUUUUUN! xD

I don't actually know. Stuff. I'm pretty random, and sometimes moody, so you never know what you're gonna get. Lots of my writing, that's for sure.
