Chapter: ONE

Hunter-Part I
The Discovery

The next day I got up early in the morning and walk over to the back room. Dekun was still asleep, I would bother going up the tedious stair case to check if Gon had woken up yet. I walked into the living room to sit on the couch and relax a little; I had never been much of a morning person. Though the old couch was beat up, it was still soft and fairly comfortable. I tilted my head backward and sighed. I missed my old home. But before I could travel too deep into thought Mia came up beside me and sat down.
“So Kai,” Mia started, “I want to hear your story, you don’t seem to speak much about your past.”
“Well,” I felt somewhat compelled to tell her, I don’t know why, she just seemed to calm me, “When I was eight years old I lost my parents to a demon called Cirr. He would blend into the night with his dark-blue skin and pick off loaners from the streets every couple of years or so. One night my parents were on their anniversary out in the park about to head home when the demon appeared out of nowhere. Of course I was with them because they didn’t want to leave their eight year old home alone, so I saw the whole thing happen. He tore Mother in half with his hands, threw her down to the ground and laughed. Father threw his pocket knife at Cirr, but a mere stab wound in the chest wasn’t going to stop him. Cirr’s larger jaw bit down on my Father’s ribcage like any normal human would a sandwich. I remember hearing the splintering bone as my Father fell to the ground limp. The demon was about to swat me aside when a bright light appeared. He fled leaving me shivering there at the scene curled up into a ball. The car that had pulled up was Noi and his older brother who was nineteen. They felt terrible for me and they became like family to me. Eight years later I was standing over the graves of my parents when Cirr decided to take his long lost pray. After brutally stabbing my shoulder he pounded me into the ground and tossed his sword at me taunting me. I threw the blade into his open laughing mouth and watched as his blood showered over me spilling into my wound. That’s how I came to be a demon. Once I had realized Noi had betrayed me to Cirr I questioned him about it only to find that he and his brother had planned the death of my parents as well. His brother’s exact words were “expectable casualties”. I left my town in order to find other demons like myself. Gon welcomed me into his “family” and that’s how I came to be here.” I finished shrugging and giving another sigh.
“Wow,” Mia said, “That’s so sad.” I looked up to notice she had tears dwelled up in her eyes.
“Don’t cry for my sad story.” I said sulking, “It’s not worth crying over, I’ll get my revenge.”
“I believe you but, nobody should have to suffer and see their parents die like that.” I shrugged again.
“It’s what makes me, me.

When Gon awoke he came down the stairs to find Mia and I still sitting on the couch. His eyes looked tired and his hair mangled. He let out a yawn and continued down, turned, and went into the kitchen. He re-emerged with a glass of water, and a more awake look about him. From all the noise Dekun stood up from his deep slumber.
“Good morning!” Mia said.
“Hm?” Gon raised an eyebrow as he drank. Dekun was speechless, though his tail flicked.
“Gon, have you showed Kai the Seven Stoned circle yet?” Mia asked tilting her head to the left in question.
“No, but I was meaning to get to it today. Kai follow me to the basement.”
“The basement?” I asked puzzled.
“Yes, now c’mon.” I could see he was starting to get irritated; he obviously wasn’t a morning person either. As we walked to the basement, I could feel the air cooling. I didn’t know if that was because the basement was cold, or because I was leaving Mia’s warm presence. Gon opened the latch and passed through the door. I followed behind eager to find out what the Seven Stoned circle was. But as I closed the door behind me all I saw was a red alchemy circle. Gon walked over to the circle and placed his demonic arm down into the center of the circle. I then realized that the alchemy circle would teleport us to the Seven Stoned circle, so I walk over to where Gon was standing and watched as a purple aura surrounded us. The bright aura danced around me and swirled around my limbs, as it did with Gon who was now standing. Once the aura was completely around us it flashed as energy surged through me I could feel a small tingle all the way up my spine. The next thing I knew we were standing in some cave underground surrounded by seven peculiar stones. Each stone had two pillars next to it, making fourteen pillars and seven stones. I felt, I don’t know, at home here.
“The Seven Stoned circle is a place where demons come to meditate and learn some of the secrets of their powers. Though some secrets you have to find by using your power.”
“I guess I better start then.” I said as I sat down onto the cold stone floor.
“I’ll leave you be.” Gon said. Though I could tell he really just wanted to get back home and get in more sleep.

I closed my eyes and forged an image in my head. It was myself, only, in demon form. I saw myself killing those innocent people. I saw the black demon that was me turn to my imaginary watchful eyes. Our eyes met, mine, and my demon forms’. His, my, eyes were so blood red. They burned into my skull as I stared into them. My imagination burst into flames and within the flames I could see Noi. He was talking to his brother about the Seven Stoned circle. They were speaking softly making it hard to hear, but I’m sure Noi said that he had found a way into “the demons’ lair”, as he called it. Does that mean that Noi, a Hunter could find his way to a sacred place where demons come? If so then I had to warn the others. But before I could do anything else I heard a short scurrying sound, and opened my eyes. Behind the pillar strait ahead of me something was hiding, a human I was sure. I stood up to confront the intruder. Noi…
