I'ma Seckseh Bunneh Boi With A Gatling Gun! XD
Current Mood: Somewhat irritable; Wouldn't be like this if not for college. >.<
With all the years of college I've been through, one thing I cannot understand is this--what are exams still doing here?
One field of study that should completely do away with them is CIS. The goal of CIS is to teach you how to write powerful, efficient code--that means spending a great deal of time designing your program from what it will look like, how it will work, coming up with algorithms to implement the code, and THEN implementing the code. On a CIS exam, what you're forced to do is complete anathema to computer programming: You have more or less 1-2 hours to write up computer code on the fly to do something, which forces you to rush through the coding process--this is the one thing that is discouraged in computing circles yet it is usually part of a question yielding the most points on an exam.
So there you have it--these are the grounds in which CIS departments in every single college should stop giving exams. Even projects are more feasible as it allows students to code at their own leisure.
