#17- Answers
“H-h-hello…” I whimpered in slight agitation. I looked her up and down, amazed by her strange outfit.
She was dressed like a traveling gypsy; dangly golden jewellery, long sleeved, baggy tunic with a dark red vest that was covered with red and yellow gems and dangling beaded chains. She wore a long black silk skirt that dragged on the ground. She had a massive amount of golden bracelets and rings on her hands and arms. Her neck was unseen because of all the necklaces and golden chokers. In her ears were two enormous earrings that were made of gold. Up her ears where the cartilage was, there were almost five studs on each of her ears. Her face was wrinkly and brown. Her smiling but crackled lips were the color of shadows and her eyes had large dark circles around them. Her eyes were a dark red color like dried blood. She wore many accessories in her hair. There were golden pins all over the mass of tied up black hair. Her hair was tied up in a tight bun on the top of her head. She seemed to be studying me as well.
“Don’t be scared now,” she said with her witch-like voice gently, “I’m not sure I’ve introduced myself.”
She slowly stuck out her wrinkly hand to me as a handshaking gesture.
“I’m White Light’s adopted Grandmother, Ahisutah,” she said with a kind smile, “has he told you about me yet?”
I tried to smile back, nodding nervously to her question. I reached my hand out cautiously and took hers. Her hand felt warm and normal, not what I had imagined, as she shook my hand. This made my fear lower. I felt the nerve to finally talk again.
“Uh... Hello Ahisutah ma’am,” I said, my voice shaking slightly, “I’m Ayumi.”
She nodded, “I know that,” she said wisely, “In fact, everyone knows that around here.”
Her eyes fixed on mine. It gave me the feeling she was able to read my mind. I wondered what she meant by everyone knows my name. I saw a twinkle in her red, mystical eyes.
Whitey-chan walked over to us from where he was standing a while ago. He stood, looking bored, beside me and Ahisutah, staring at both of us, from me to Ahisutah and then back to me.
Ahisutah gave Whitey-chan a quick glance.
“Your Ayumi-oneechan has a lot of questions in her head.” Ahisutah said, looking back at me kindly but directing her sentence to Whitey-chan.
I was surprised she knew I had many questions to ask but it seemed like everyone was able to read my mind now and days.
“It’s too cold out,” she continued to say, but to me, looking at my shivering posture, “let us go back to my cabin where we can warm up and then get some of your questions answered.”
