heh heh, I just happened upon this page so if the random comment from the random person bothers you just delete it.

I think that that phrase means not that they wouldn't love you if you weren't the same (unless you were a completely different person) but the way I see it, is that every person, their soul, their heart, past, and present, are a collage of human failures and achievements. But throughout every step of life we are never without other people, without whom we'd never have the strength to prevail. So when one says this, it is not to say that "you are perfect the way you are", or not to say that "if you were different I wouldn't like you," but to say, "You have been there for me when I deserved no one and needed everyone. And because you are so awesome like that I want to be with you through all the crap that happens in your life, no matter what you are, because without you being you, I might have been nothing"

I know what it's supposed to mean, it's just I got to thinking about the literal translation of it
