Demons are created when the heart of a human becomes entwined with the thorns of darkness. Over time there bodies and personalities change, eventually their memories are replaced and in all there soul is destroyed.
a human body can't live without a soul, so your shadow. the part of you that holds all of your hate, misery and hidden strength come and takes its place.
with the shadow in control the body itself begins to change. sleep is only needed when the moon is full. food is no longer needed for shadows feed off of fear and deseption.
