- Here's a list of books I've read during 2008. My new year's resolution was to read more books and I found that keeping a list is helpful. Also writing my thoughts about the book in italics.
January
The 5th Horseman by James Patterson
I thought it was going to be better definitely not one of the best but it was a quick read like all of Patterson's books.
5.5/10
Blood Lines by Tanya Huff
Loved it. It was kind of slow at the beginning. Well a lot of slow in the beginning. But it definitely got more interesting.
7/10
February
Next by Michael Crichton
I really liked the subject and concept of this book and the issues it brings up about genetics and how people are patenting genes hoping to find cures for diseases hoping to make a fortune off of it. But I HATED the character's. All of them. They were just so self involved and flat. It seemed like everyone was a jerk and just looking out for their own a**.
4.5/10
March
Cell by Stephen King
Okay first off anything with zombies, the undead, whatever you want to call them already gets a little golden star in my book. Apocalyptic/post-apocalyptic books are always good. This was definitely a page turner. The characters were great, zombies good, end of the world good. Everything good.
8.8/10
Carrie by Stephen King
I liked how this was written. It was really weird, like good weird.
7/10
April
Practical Demonkeeping by Christopher Moore
Wacky, sweet, overall good.
6.5/10
My Point is and I do have One by Ellen Degeneres
I love Ellen. I think she has a great personality and think she's hilarious. I loved her other book "The Funny Thing is" but didn't like this one as much. Some parts were great others not so much.
6/10
Deja Dead by Kathy Reichs
Oh God. I thought this book was absolutely terrible. I loved the show Bones it's based off of but hated this book. I didn't really like the main character sometimes she was kind of irritating and others just boring. Not suspenseful like at all. At one point it picked up but it didn't make up for the other few hundred pages of nothing.
2.5/10
Blood Pact by Tanya Huff
Meh. Not as good as the previous books in the series. And I hated the ending part. It's spoilers so I won't say anything but hated what happened to Vicki.
6/10
May
The 6th Target by James Patterson
Um. I can't really remember what happened... crap. So I guess not very memorable.
?/10
Darkly Dreaming Dexter by Jeff Lindsay
Great! Loved it. Dexter is an amazing character.
7/10
7th Heaven by James Patterson
One of the better books in the series. I really enjoyed it. I wanted to smack Lindsay though.
8/10
Sundays at Tiffany's by James Patterson
Romance ain't my thing but this book was really sweet.
7/10
Dearly Devoted Dexter by Jeff Lindsay
I loved this one even more than the first one. I just love Dexter's personality.
8/10
A Streetcar Named Desire by Tennessee Williams
Meh. I didn't really like this play much. Can't really say a lot about it. I guess I don't really grasp all the things that was going on.
3.5/10
June
The Blue Zone by Andrew Gross
At first I really thought this book was going to suck, hard. But after I trudged through it, toward the end it started to actually get good. And it did sort of make up for the crappy beginning.
6.5/10
I am America (and so can you!) by Stephen Colbert
A Great and Terrible Beauty by Libba Bray
My Sister's Keeper by Jodi Picoult
July
World War Z: An Oral History of the Zombie War by Max Brooks
The Notebook by Nicholas Sparks
The Tao of Pooh by Benjamin Hoff
Odd Thomas by Dean Koontz
Wicked Lovely by Melissa Marr
August
The Da Vinci Code by Dan Brown
I've seen the movie and I did think the book was better but not by a big margin. I think the movie hit the main parts of the book and did a pretty good job considering it's an adaption of a book. I did however like Angels and Demons better.
6/10
The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini
Belle de Jour: Diary of an Unlikely Call Girl by Anonymous
September
Rebel Angels by Libba Bray
October
Dexter in the Dark by Jeff Lindsay
I definitely lol'd a few times when reading this book which I don't think I have done in the previous ones. However I think the whole story was dragged out a bit too long and I was a bit impatient to get to the end of the book.
7/10
The Zombie Survival Guide: Complete Protection from the Living Dead by Max Brooks
It never hurts to be prepared right? I really liked the beginning instructional part but when I got to the Documented Cases section I thought it was kind of boring and tedious. I have already read "World War Z" so that might have played a part in why I didn't like the last part.
6.3/10
Nights in Rodanthe by Nicholas Sparks
OMG. This book was really great. I enjoyed it more than The Notebook. It was just really sweet and sad and I found myself crying. Although I didn't feel much chemistry between the characters.
8/10

Angus, thongs and Full Frontal Snogging by Louise Rennison

On the bright side, I'm now the girlfriend of a sex god by Louise Rennison
December
Twilight by Stephenie Meyer
Confessions of a Shopaholic by Sophie Kinsella
