Chapter 1
The Revealing of the Blades
Gildion bolted awake and grabbed for Sanctifier then he realized it had all been just a bad dream. He looked out his window and saw Tree Dorr alive with activity. He looked a little to the west and saw where his dream, or rather the event of the dream, had taken place. He crossed over to the mirror and saw how he had aged from 15 to what looked like to a human 25 (but he was really 115 years old, he looked this way because elves stop looking older when they reach a certain age) and he realized he had taken on a much sturdier look. He had dark brown hair and eyes with a tan tint to his skin.
As he left his room in Rider Palace he met with his fellow riders Thressa, Tagoro, and Sirras. Thressa was a tall and very beautiful elf with red hair and hazel eyes. Sirras was a medium height elf with black hair and brown eyes. Tagoro was the tallest and oldest elf. He had blonde hair and silver eyes, for he was blind.
As he entered the room he saw the looks of concern on their faces.
“What?” asked Gildion as he grabbed his gear, for it was not safe to go anywhere without your weapons these days.
Nobody said anything until Thressa said, “We were worried about you Gildion. Every night we all hear groans and shouts coming from your room. Are you having those same nightmares again?” From the looks they had they were all fearing the worst. Because Sirras rarely showed emotion Gildion was comforted by his friend of many long years. Tagoro’s looks were very hard to interpret. The look he had could have been concern or an upset stomach but one way or the other he look bothered about something. But the one that got Gildion the most was Thressa’s look for she usually showed care and compassion and now showed fear and worry.
Gildion knew he needed to get off this subject quickly so he used one of his favorite tactics, he said “Why do we go visit the dragons?” this had worked so many times he hoped it would work this time and to his great relief it did.
When they reached Dragon Hall, the place where the dragons visit, Gildion was immediately hailed by Sunburst, the dragon immediately sensed his companion’s distress “What is wrong my friend?”
Gildion was quite grateful that his best friend of many years didn’t beat around the bush. He asked, “What makes you think anything is wrong with me?”
“What do you think after 100 years,” replied the dragon “I don’t know what mood you are in every second of every day? Did you forget that how you feel also affects me?”
Gildion laughed at the thought of the big dragon feeling tired and drained of all energy “Alright I’ll tell you …” as he relates the tale he can’t seem to keep his eye on the dragon as he looked around the room he saw Sunset who was a big pink dragon with a kind heart, Obsidian a shiny gray beast with a fighters spirit, and Vendral and Varec a two headed emerald green dragon with a knack for arguing with each other but when they put their two brains together they come up with some awesome tactics and plans, then there was Sunburst a bright red dragon with a good heart, strong mind, and strong body.
When Gildion finished the tale Sunburst thought about it and said, “And you keep this from your friends? Why? If you were looking for advice then here is some, tell your friends the truth.”
“But if I tell them they might be afraid of me for the decision I made.”
“If they are truly your friends they won’t fear you just the choice you made.”
“Good point I guess I might as well tell them. Thank you for listening to me my old friend.”
“Your welcome.” The dragon replied for he could never resist having the last word.
