Resting on a soft feather, gently floating on the breeze, I saw the sky turning gray.
There was no cloud to be seen, no leafs flying through the wind. As my feather's speed was reducing, the sky turned darker, rapidly.
I held some soft bunches of feather tightly as the sky turned black. Pitch black.
Everywhere I looked was dark emptiness. I sat up on my feather, which seemed to be glowing and tiny sparkles appeared in the dark void. A drowsy feeling was what I felt.
My eyes were wide open, hoping to catch a glimpse of something familiar.
Then, the soft feather disappeared and I fell. With a high speed I seemed to come closer to the ground. But there was no ground.
I opened my mouth, tried to scream, stretching my arms, hoping someone would take my hands. There was still nothing to be seen, I felt so helpless and alone, falling this long way down.
The air became colder and tears filled my eyes. This was unlike anything that ever happened to me. I cried, still screaming for help.
My fall seemed to go slower, but the temperature was lowering.
Then I felt a warm breeze in front of me. It fell with me, at the same speed. "Help me", I whispered in panic.
Two pale gray hands appeared out of nowhere. It surprised me it took so long for someone to help me. The pale gray hands held my hands firmly, and pulled me out of the void.
My feet touched the ground as the warm breeze was blown away by a strong cold wind. The hands who had helped me out of the darkness were attached to the arms of a rather tidy looking gentleman. His top hat created a shadow over his eyes. I stood in front of him, completely lost. "Th-thank you..." I said while trying to look in his eyes.
Apparently the man did not find the need to respond.
Suddenly I noticed the ground melting. I was standing in soft winter snow on my bare feet. A chilly breeze caressed my arms as I found myself only in a sleeping gown. Just now I noticed how cold it truly was. I put my hand over each other, trying to keep myself warm.
The man had not moved. A smirk appeared on his face.
I took a good look at him. He was wearing clothes suitable for the winter, unlike me. He wore a large dark cape, a black tuxedo and a pair of stout shoes. A silver cane he held in his left hand. His skin was pale, with a slight rosy color on his cheeks and nose. "You look rather cold, my friend", he said and took his cape off. He slowly took it off his shoulders and wrapped it around mine instead.
He buttoned the only button and wrapped the cape a little tighter around me. "Why are you dressed like this when it's snowing outside?" He seemed to be amused by the fact that I was nearly freezing to death.
"I do not know, sir." I blushed and looked at the ground. How did I get in this situation?
